Since the BRob post got me looking at the IC stats for our commits, is Black really 6-7? Is he going to keep growing? With his length I assume he will be in the 2-3 roll. Looking at his Soph. stats the dude is a quad-double waiting to happen!

Anybody have any info on this young man?

If I am not mistaken I believe I heard he could end up in the 6'9" range, not saying he will but there is this growth platelet seperation thing thing that indicates a potential max height but does not gurantee a certain height. I think gary mentioned that he may have already grown out of the PG position and I agree, not many that length can effectively be a PG in college.

2 classic cases of this, both John Henson and Anthony Davis were pgs as high school freshmen and just hit those growth spurts. Henson still felt he was a wing at 6'9", of course we saw he wasn't but coming to UNC he was planing on being a wing. i would LOVE for leaky to end up a 6'9" power forward that can put the ball on the floor and retain some of those old guard traits.

It would be great to have a 3-4 type with his handle, love to see the kid take someone from 20 feet out...

I don't Live far I saw him play once and will see him again this year, the game I saw looked like a Mickey D's game so it was sloppy but he was fun to watch, He dribbles so well I can almost say he will play Point Guard ...

Magic Johnson?
Yeah I would have to see a LOT more before I even came close to putting him with the best PG of all time and IMO the best player of all time. Kid obviously can fill up the stat sheet in a lot of ways. Very versatile guys like that are hard to come by and make teams so much better.

Edit: he said best PG of all time, which is true.

I have always had issue with how does one decide who the "best player" is in basketball when comparing multiple positions. I mean comparing MJ to other SG/SF like Kobe is a good comparison, but how do you compare him to PF/C like Kareem, Duncan, Shaq, Wilt.... The positions are so different that its not IMO an apples to apples comparison. I admit I don't remember which sports analyst was making the following point but I did agree...

Essentially his point was basketball is a 5 on 5 game. There are way more parts than any one position. So to compare guys over multiple positions against other guys a 1 on 1 might not work. For example lets take a HOF rivalry in Jordan vs Ewing. 1 on 1 Jordan is going to run circles around Ewing, but Ewing is going to just post up Jordan. Now imagine making it a team game. 5 Jordans vs 5 Ewings. The passing, floor spacing, ball movement that are so important come into play. Essentially his argument was comparisons should be at a team level and if you have to pick 1 guy Magic was that guy. He literally at some point played every position from the PG to C at high levels and was successful at all of them. I make no argument in how good Jordan was and he is the best SG/SF of all time. I just think of it differently when it comes to comparing people at different positions. Please also keep in mind this is simply an opinion(which is true of any statement about who the best is) and I have never had issue with the people who argued Wilt, or Kareem...

Can't help but chuckle, you compare MJ when talking best all time to Kobe? Then you talk best big men of all time with Duncan and Shaq along side Wilt and Jabbar? Those were very good players and hall of fame level guys but as good as Duncan and Shaq were they should not be in the same discussion as Wilt and Kareen, Bill Russell should be. As for MJ, the names that I would consider as his competition for the best ever at his position are Dr J, Bird, Hawkins.

There is a very big difference IMO between best of their day and best EVER. Kobe, Shaq, Duncan are to me deserving to be hall of famers and amazing players for their day but best of all time is a different and higher level. It is one thing to be in the hall of fame, it is a different thing to have an entire wing at the hall of fame dedicated to you and that is what men like MJ, Bird, Dr J, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Oscar, Jerry West, Bill Russell deserve in my opinion.

There are tons of players that are HOF guys. I just chose some names. No way saying Duncan and Shaq are as good as Wilt or Kareem but they are certainly very high caliber players and IMO those guys were the best of their respective times. As for Kobe MJ that's pretty close, thought there is no way to compare eras though. Game has changed so much from when Kareem and Wilt and even MJ played to current times. My point wasn't so much to compare guys at their positions but to say even tho Jordan is as you say one of those guys that should have a wing in the HOF even comparing him to Duncan who is a HOF guy but not as legendary isn't going to be a good comparison when saying who is better because its not comparing the same position or even similar positions.

I wasn't really arguing just chuckled a bit because shows a relative difference in age. I mean I look at the guys I do based on my age and having seen at least most of them in their prime but those older than me would for sure have a few more greatest names just as someone younger than me would be inclined to see Kobe and Shaq a lot better than I do. It just shows a different perspective from different ages, not that one is necessarily more right or wrong than the other.

Yeah I saw Magic and Bird, but was a little too late for a lot of the guys before them.

I think the Shaun Livingston comparison is a good one; the kid's going to be a stud. Call me crazy, but I think he's good enough to be a lottery pick in 2019.

I really like this idea. I'm picking Jordan as the all time best bball player. But I'm not convinced a team of 5 Jordans would the best possible clone team.

I'm not sure 5 Magic Johnsons would beat 5 LeBron James...let alone 5 Michael Jordans.

Well LeBron physically would matchup against Magic better. All I am saying is that 5 MJs would be 5 guards/small forwards. 5 Magics would be every position because at some point he did play all 5 positions

I'm a firm believer that if MJ wanted to play center, he could have gone for 40+ from that position too.

Considering this kid may continue to grow for a while, it's very difficult to even predict which position he's likely to play in college, at least with any significant degree of accuracy. I'm just glad he's gong to be playing some position for us.
