He had to sit out his 10 grade year due to injury and missed his 8th grade year due to Covid.

He will have 12 college credits at the end of his sophomore year.

What are the pros and cons?

To what? Reclassifying him in high school?

Let him be a kid and enjoy life. Don’t rush growing up.

Only if he is he serious about basketball.

Otherwise it's just go to college.

But there is no growing up time if you want to play college basketball.

Unless you ate a freak athlete every minute you waste "growing up" someone else is getting better than you.

Depends on if he is physically ready. Very few kids excel by going early unless they are top of class types of players. Your son is a guard if I remember your videos, very few small in stature players will excel reclassifying.

He can outwork everyone without giving up his childhood. Teach him work ethic for sure, but if he’s already missed a year of action, he’s probably behind and not ahead.

Be his dad and let him live his dreams, and experiencing growing up. Make sure it’s not gory dream you are trying to live through him. Very few play D1 and even less go pro, but life lessons are forever.

No I'm trying to reclassify him backwards not forwards if that's possible.

Hes not ready physically because of his frame.

Hell of a shooter though.

I screwed him over Covid. Big regret.

Gotcha. That makes more sense. You have to balance academics, personal growth and basketball. Reclassifying back would be mainly for basketball since he has college credits already. Him missing a full year can justify it, but it’s departing from friend groups to do that. It comes down to basketball only and would ask him what he wants to do.

I agree. I told him.only if he's serious about basketball. Hes home schooled now but hangs out with kids at the gym and in his home school league.

He is quite slim, but that is normal for teens his age. I agree that moving him back would be about bbal only and should be balanced against both burnout and a desire to stay with his HS friends. I like his form on the release, but I think it needs to be quicker and he needs to work on getting it higher too. He is shooting from the chest which might be because he needs to get a little stronger or it might be habit. Have him work on getting it off with a person closing much quicker on him. (If this is just relaxed playing around, ignore the advice)

He's a little tired after workout but he couldn't do any agility or explosive work for 9 months.

Fyi..he took your feedback to heart.

So he worked on it the end of his workout.

Much better! He learns quickly. Have him keep working on this, pump fake and step, and several types of step backs/side steps. He should also practice the pull up going both left and right and from all court angles out to 3 pt range. I love the work ethic and hopefully he keeps at it!
