When is College Basketball going to get rid of the meaningless vestige of the jump circles? At one point there were three jump circles on the court; one at midcourt, and one encircling each free throw line. The free throw circles' portions in the lanes were marked by a dotted arc for many years, however because those circles are never used, College Basketball removed the dotted arc, but left the solid arc outside of the lane. While carrying no function, for a while this arc was a nice reference point, and matched beautifully with the 3-point line when it was 20' from the basket. These days the vestigial arc remains as visual clutter, with no meaning whatsoever to the game at hand. It's time to remove it.
