That's because it's based on the earlier comics version. All the batman's from Keaton to Affleck have drawn inspiration from the dark knight comics in the 80's.His Batman is nothing like he's portrayed today and that's not a bad thing lol, nevertheless he was an iconic man and will be missed.

I don't know if I would describe it that way, but it was a similar feel and same outfit. The dark and more hardcore batman of today came along in the 80's comics. So in the early comics he was campy and corny?
I guess maybe I should have said the feel of it compared to today. The dark knight comics is widely regarded as a change in direction for batman. It's considered part of the dark age of comics along with other comics like watchmen.Adam West himself described his version of Batman as a departure from the original comics. From a 1983 op-ed about video games:
"Our show still draws heavy ratings whenever it's shown, and I'm pleased that today's relatively sophisticated audiences enjoy the unique meld of action and humor we had in every episode. Yet, I'd like to see a videogame which features Batman as he was conceived back in 1939: a shadowy creature of the night."
I spent many afternoons enjoying the campy interpretation of Batman delivered by Adam West. RIP.

I like the current version the best as well. It matches his background story the best.Well personally I think the way Batman is written now is more accurate and attune to his character than the Adam West version. He's not supposed to be campy, and in many versions he barely has a sense of humor. I think Kevin Conroy does him the best.
I have a picture of me as a toddler with Adam West (dressed as Batman). The picture was taken in 1976. I'll see if I can find it and post it here.
Nice. Bonus points if that's a bat logo chain that he's checking out.
