How many enjoyed his Batman role? Was reruns for me, but loved the comic feel.

I didn't know he was as old as he was. I guess the Family Guy role seemed to make him younger.

His Batman is nothing like he's portrayed today and that's not a bad thing lol, nevertheless he was an iconic man and will be missed.
That's because it's based on the earlier comics version. All the batman's from Keaton to Affleck have drawn inspiration from the dark knight comics in the 80's.

Adam West himself described his version of Batman as a departure from the original comics. From a 1983 op-ed about video games:

"Our show still draws heavy ratings whenever it's shown, and I'm pleased that today's relatively sophisticated audiences enjoy the unique meld of action and humor we had in every episode. Yet, I'd like to see a videogame which features Batman as he was conceived back in 1939: a shadowy creature of the night."

I spent many afternoons enjoying the campy interpretation of Batman delivered by Adam West. RIP.

I guess maybe I should have said the feel of it compared to today. The dark knight comics is widely regarded as a change in direction for batman. It's considered part of the dark age of comics along with other comics like watchmen.

ETA: I should also clarify that when I say earlier batman I'm referring to the silver age, which is the more friendly version like the TV series. Most people don't think of the batman of the first years where he was a little darker.

Well personally I think the way Batman is written now is more accurate and attune to his character than the Adam West version. He's not supposed to be campy, and in many versions he barely has a sense of humor. I think Kevin Conroy does him the best.

I like the current version the best as well. It matches his background story the best.

My favorite show as a kid by far! I would get up early in the morning before everyone was up, make a bowl of cereal and sit on the floor centered in front of tv and watch Batman...followed by some Little Rascals and Three Stooges.

I have a picture of me as a toddler with Adam West (dressed as Batman). The picture was taken in 1976. I'll see if I can find it and post it here. Obviously I don't remember meeting him but still pretty neat nonetheless. I loved watching reruns of the old Batman show when I was a kid.

As far as "today's" Batman versions, I'm of the opinion that Keaton was clearly the best. He was first, which of course gives him a leg up. But I just thought he played the part perfectly. I get that there was a dark side to Batman. But a dark side - not totally dark, which is what the newer Batmans portray. I like Christian Bale as an actor. I just didn't like what they turned Batman into.
