Passes away at 69, after an 18 month battle with cancer. Who knew? Sad to hear. He was an iconic figure in the history of rock music.

Wow, I had no idea he was ill.
On the way into work this morning, my iPod shuffle played the Phish song "David Bowie."

Apparently he kept his illness private, which made this news all the more surprising. But it seems fitting for a guy that continuously pushed boundaries and reinvented himself multiple times that he would shock the world one last time.

I know it's early, but this has to be among the 2016 contenders for weirdest out-of-context quote of the year.
Well, I'm a PE teacher now so when our students are practicing (forehands and overhand hits today) I play some music. All of the music today was Bowie.
