The golden boy. My first sports hero type guy. Yes I’m old as dirt to be a fan but people today I think dont realize how great a player he was. At one time I know he was the only player ever to be Heisman Trophy winner, number one overall draft pick, NFL MVP, and Super Bowl champion. He held scoring records achieved in 12 game seasons which stood up until 16 game seasons came around. He also like to smoke drink and gamble which got him in some trouble. At an NFL All-Star game he challenged some guy named Abe Woodson who was commonly referred to as the fastest man in the NFL to 100 yard dash and beat him by 5 yards. He was in his prime when a pinched nerve in his neck ended his career. He still to this day referred to as the greatest football player to ever play at Notre Dame which is a pretty hefty compliment in itself. He’s the only Heisman Trophy winner to ever come off a losing team. Vince Lombardi called him the greatest football player he ever saw.
