And more important - we have had little RB development. We haven't had lower level RB recruits coached up to become major contributors on winning teams.
I'm trying figure how much pure hype is in all this talk about Gillespie as some kind of super recruiter and RB coach. Jalen Hurd was going to be a Vol no matter who the RB coach was, and Hurd as 1000 yard rusher was a given if he remained healthy and got the carries. Tennessee has not been, and is not now, dealing with a plethora of potential All SEC RBs. Nobody is making the claim that Gillespie left the Vols with the 2nd or 3rd best RB corps in the SEC.
