Which 5 would you vote for?
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/hall-of-fame-pearl-jam-tupac-shakur-yes-lead-nominees-w445147

Bad Brains
Chaka Khan
Chic
Depeche Mode
ELO
J. Geils Band
Jane's Addiction
Janet Jackson
Joan Baez
Joe Tex
Journey
Kraftwerk
MC5
Pearl Jam
Steppenwolf
The Cars
Zombies
Tupac
Yes

As mentioned previously by Strum and others, its not really pure rock and roll anymore but that's OK I guess. Maybe they should change the name of the Hall? Anyway, the list is kinda thin if you ask me. It could be time to start only allowing 3 per year instead of 5.

I think the RRHOF is just another revenue source for Rolling Stone. Anyone ever been there? I went in 1998 or 99. Seeing Jim Morrison's Cub Scout uniform was really a benchmark moment.

Seriously, there were cool things, but I've seen cooler stuff at Hard Rock Cafe's.

But, my votes this year (you can choose 5, I think) are:
Steppenwolf, by far the best of that bunch. LOVE Steppenwolf!
ELO
J. Geils Band
The Cars
Yes

I love the solo by Steve Howe at the 4:57 mark.

This is also a candidate for a rank 'em thread.

I think everyone's picks thus far are well deserving. One other that I think should be voted in is Joe Tex. Most are probably not that familiar with him since he was from the early 1960's soul music genre. He had numerous songs that made the charts back then.

FWIW, OOTB voting goes a little something like this...

Steppenwolf - 6
Yes - 6
The Cars - 5
Pearl Jam - 5
ELO - 4
Journey - 4
Tupac - 3
J. Geils - 2
Joe Tex - 2

It's pure insanity that no one has mentioned Jane's Addiction. They would certainly make my personal top 5 of that group.

Pearl Jam is a lock.
Janet Jackson will get in (and maybe she should).
I'd put Journey, The Cars and Tupac as the odds on favorites for the last 3 spots.

I went back and forth on Jane's addiction. It's a really good group and somebody had to be left out.

I fee like they should reduce the annual inductees from 5 to 3. Now that the majority of big names are already inducted, Make it a little tougher to get in.

Of these nominees, my 5 would be (no order) Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits, LL Cool J, and Radiohead. Rage Against the Machine would be next.

They had a few good songs but does anybody really feel like Bon Jovi is Hall of fame worthy?
Nope.

Have I? I'm certainly no Bon Jovi fan, but I wouldn't say I have a strong dislike for them. I don't really think of them much at all.
In a thread a long time ago I mentioned something about liking the song "wanted dead or alive" and you said something like no man should like Bon Jovi. It's possible you just made a bad joke.
