30 wins vs top 10 teams since joining UNC. Tied for most in that time period. Sure wish he would call more timeouts...

He might have a few more if he did, but 30 is a great accomplishment. I imagine in the always competitive ACC there's a lot of top 10 teams to face.
Some other interesting notes I've come across, assuming the Heels get another win in the near future:He's also one win shy of 800 wins. That's pretty special too. Puts him in the top 10 all time for D1 mens coaches, rarified air.
Don't forget that Rupp played in a very weak SEC. In 40 seasons at UK, he only lost 75 games, a stat that proves how bad the SEC was.Coach Williams will be the second-fastest Division I men's basketball coach to 800 wins, trailing only Adolph Rupp. Rupp got his 800th win in his 972nd game. With a win against Syracuse, Williams would do it in 1,012 games.
So do I.I really hope the Heels get the win tonight so Coach Williams can be celebrated in front of a home crowd.
Oh, I didn't forget. Despite Florida's run of success under Donovan, the SEC hasn't been much better lately.Don't forget that Rupp played in a very weak SEC. In 40 seasons at UK, he only lost 75 games, a stat that proves how bad the SEC was.
- Coach Williams will be only the fourth men's college basketball coach to reach the 800-win mark at his alma mater. The three other coaches to do so were Adolph Rupp, Jim Boeheim, and Bob Huggins.
My bad. That was quoted in the article I read but is obviously incorrect and I didn't catch it. Fixed my earlier poast, thanks.Looks like coach will only be the third. Rupp went to Kansas but got his 800th win at Kentucky.
There's a pretty amazing coaching tree that is rooted in Kansas basketball. James Naismith coached Phog Allen, who in turn coached Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp, and Ralph Miller (among others).I never knew he played at Kansas for Phogg Allen.
