With all of this " negative " news on the recruiting front I am sure Roy is taking all of this extremely hard. He puts his heart and soul into each and every player he recruits. That is part of the reason I am sure he is struggling with all of this. That is also a big reason why I have faith in Roy and love him as our coach. Roy wants the best for his kids. It is not just about basketball and making it to the NBA. He really cares for them as individuals. Maybe other coaches don't care as much and win these recruiting battles, but I would not trade him for any other coach out there. Never.
My question is this and only Roy knows the answer. IF, yes IF Roy/UNC don't pull in some big time recruits in the class of 2016, do you think Roy hangs it up? With all of the NCAA stuff, Wanda's health, him losing his best friend and mentor and losing out on some of these kids that in the past would have committed I am sure it is taking a lot out of him. I want the best for him because he deserves the best, but missing out on recruits will not be as painful for all of our fans as it will be if Roy decides to hang it up. It was very hard to find someone to take over after Dean retired and in Roy we found the best possible person. He has done an excellent job. I know Roy will leave on his own terms and leave UNC in the best possible situation moving forward as he can. I just hope it is not soon.
