THIS is why the NBA is a train wreck IMO. This guy, who I never heard of , has averaged 7 points and 8 rebounds per game since 2013. The cash these owners are just throwing at these average players is astonishing. I am all for anyone making as much as they can not blaming the guy and I guess more power to him.... but $102 MILLION for THIS GUY??????

The NBA outside of a few playoff games and following the Heels that are in the league..... is dead to me. SMH

think that the CBA requires that teams must spend a preset % of the salary cap which means that productivity does not factor into the contract decisions

Just rediculus what these guys make,I'll always believe they should be payed by their perfomance, not potential.A lot of lotto picks have even turned out to be flops in the past,no wonder tickets, consessions at these sporting events are so high.Pro sports in general can bite me,they have made it hard for many families to afford going.

Madness. Put some of that money to medical research, feeding/housing the homeless, creating employment.... There's 104million better uses for all that dough

No point in watching the NBA regular season. I'd argue there's no point in watching the playoffs up until the finals (if that) either. I might tune into the Eastern Conference finals to watch the Celtics lose in 5 to the Cavs. Maybe I'll tune in for some of the Warriors win in 6 over the Cavs in the finals. Not really any fun when you know how the story ends.

That money comes from selling tv rights. Networks buy the rights cause corps will pay outrageous advertising rates. Corps will pay outrageous advertising rates cause millions of people watch the games. Its not the nba's fault. Its ours.

Well, it's certainly not my fault because I don't watch a minute of it and I don't buy any clothing or merchandise. But I agree with what you said. The money is there because of the reasons you stated.

But it breaks my heart to see teachers, firemen, and policemen making $30K a year, considering how much more important their jobs are. I understand the free market system and the concept of earning what the market will bear. I also understand that sports is just entertainment today, like music, movies, art, etc... But a society that pays people a thousand times more to entertain us than it pays people to protect us and educate our children, has lost it's way.

It's why I don't participate in the pro sports machine in any manner. It's also why I think money is ruining college sports. Universities have become addicted to the immense amount of money that is generated by football and basketball, to the point where we have to ask ourselves if it's even amateur sports anymore. It's all about money now and the tail is waggin' the dog. IMO, the future of college sports is very bleak.
