Ryan Lochte

Just...why? I haven't followed this story very closely, but WTF would be stand to gain here?

I can't figure that out either. The only thing I can come up with is that Lochte and his buddies were drunk AF and doing dumb shit. In an effort to not look like a stupid drunk American and paint the swimming team in a bad light, he fabricated some weird story of how they were robbed.

I don't know. I really don't. The other option is that someone with the American Olympic committee told them to make up a story to make Rio look bad.

But really... I don't understand what would have driven them to make this thing up in the first place. Unless they're all that jealous of Phelps being the star of their show.

I'm also surprised this is getting so much coverage. Even if guilty its a misdemeanor right? Tell the Brazilian authorities to pound sand and be more worried with the garbage state their country is in as opposed to these morons making up stories.

How do you talk 2 other people into going along with the story?

He's always been in Phelps' shadow so I think if he was going to try to grab some attention, he would have concocted something in the 2 previous Olympics he participated in. Why wait so long?

As far as the actual trouble he's going to get in, he's already back so I guess he could just flip them the bird and tell them to GFY. But I feel bad for the 2 guys they took off the plane yesterday. Those two were the two youngest on the team 20 and 21 years old. If I'm their parents, I think I'm going to pick Lochte up at gunpoint and see that he makes it back to Brazil in return for my kid.

Its being reported that the 4 drunk US swimmers vandalized a sign at a gas station and then made a deal with the gas station owner over the damages. Made up the we 'were held up at gunpoint by some peeps in police uniforms' story to cover their escapades.

Lochte's lawyer has yet to respond to a request to speak of the latest report.

Lochte's never been the brightest bulb in the box. It's a good thing he's good looking and is a good swimmer. Beyond that....not much going for him. Atlanta is a big swimming hub. I know plenty of people who know Lochte (some who know him in the Biblical sense lol)

I think he made up the story to tell his mother and then she blabbed about it. Apparently, he told the USA Olympic people he was not robbed, and they told the IOC, but when he was asked about it he stayed with the robbed story for some reason. Perhaps he was more concerned about lying to his mother than anything else.
