One of my great memories of Rich as a player was his ability to throw the ball the length of the court like it was NOTHING. He was a former pitcher I think and had an absolute cannon of an arm. He Did those throws numerous times when we needed it.
Hate to hear this. Meet him when I was working at a local grocery store during my high school days. Asked for an autograph and was afraid he would say no but was very polite (probably like most former Heels). RIP
