Sadly, we got a commit yesterday and no one is talking about it.

Elijah Burris is First 2020 UNC Commitment

UNC is the only school to offer Burris, a 5-foot-10, 210-pound running back in the class of 2020 from Mount Holly (N.C.) Mountain Island Charter. However, he has been fielding interest from Appalachian State, Clemson, Marshall, Purdue, Nebraska, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Wisconsin.

Burris has been on an absolute tear for Mountain Island Charter this season. In just 10 games, he has already eclipsed the 2,000-yard rushing mark. And he has done so thanks to a 14.5 yards-per-carry average. In total, he has rushed for 2,481 yards and 31 touchdowns. He's also third on the team with nine receptions for 173 yards and two more scores.

It's probably because he's a two star back. His only offer was from us.

So is he 5-8 or 5-10? Not that it really matters

Hope for the best for the kid. Hope he turns into a superstar and plays in the NFL for 20 years. But being the only offer at this point sort of shows where the program is.

Mountain Island Charter is a 1A that has played middle school level talent most of the year. I'm sure he's well prepared for ACC level football (sarcasm). Wish him well, as I do all kids that come here, but my goodness, we are his only offer which should tell everybody something. again, to echo those above, this is the talent level coming into our already terrible system. It'd take a new coach 2-3 years to get over the hump with the resources we'll have on the field against p5 programs.

End of the day he has the grades to get into UNC....That’s all that matters with football...
