Sam the Man...

Would absolutely understand if he wanted to skip this game, but man that says a lot about him that he wants to play. Can't say I'm surprised. For his play and how he has represented the school, I think he deserves the highest honor we can give him - number retired or in the ring, etc. Hope he balls it out on the 30th and in the pros too (preferably not at the Steelers says this Cleveland Browns fan).

... meanwhile, Pickett is not gonna play in the peach bowl.

If I was an NFL GM, I'd prefer to take the guy that couldn't imagine not being with his guys for the final game of the year.

I'm not surprised by Pickett's decision. If I were a Pitt fan, I'd tell him to suck a bag o'dicks. If Pickett gets leveled in the NFL, I'll applaud the defensive player that does it. After that shit he pulled in the ACC CG, and then quitting on his team in a big bowl? I'll be pulling against him.

I also have a weird suspicion that Sam Howell comes back. I hesitate to share it, but... I dunno. It's probably mostly just wishful thinking.

And from mock drafts I've seen, quite a few have the Panthers taking pickett, which would suck.

If Sam comes out this year, someone is going to get a warrior with a later pick. Most mock drafts seem to spout the BS that Sam wasn't good this year, but they fail to look at our garbage defense that led to our crappy season. Hell, without Sam we win 2, 3 games; with a decent D we win 10, and get to the ACCCG.

some of the scout’s mocks i’ve seen have sam to the raiders, lions(their last 1st rd pick), or titans…the titans would be ideal for him.

i could see all that or falling to the 2nd…he’s right behind corral, pickett, and ridder…and you know, once one qb comes off the board, teams freak and then draft one.

I would ignore those mocks drafts. The people who actually make decisions know who the better pick would be. There's a reason there has been reports that the Steelers would prefer Sam over Pickett.

these are scouts and salary cap guys, not scout.com or fan sites…they at the very least understand need, fit, salary, and roster…they are way more reliable than most.

dane brugler is one…probably should work for a team.

We'll revisit when these guys talk about how Sam's "pro day went great and is moving up the boards." Standard language used to cover their mistakes.
