Secret CIA assessment says Russia was trying to help Trump win White House

The CIA has concluded in a secret assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency, rather than just to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, according to officials briefed on the matter.

Intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks with thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and others, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, according to U.S. officials. Those officials described the individuals as actors known to the intelligence community and part of a wider Russian operation to boost Trump and hurt Clinton’s chances.

“It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected,” said a senior U.S. official briefed on an intelligence presentation made to U.S. senators. “That’s the consensus view.”

There is so much fake or exaggerated news now that it's hard to believe any of it now. This great division we have contributed to and exacerbated has created this and pretty soon we will not know what is truth or lies anymore because people say anything to make their "team" the correct team and it's making this country look stupid.

I don't doubt that Russia attempted to influence the election, and probably for just the reasons you mentioned. The Cold War is back. Putin was, is, and will always be, KGB. He would love nothing more than to see Russia dominate the world again.

Every top country in the world is attempting to hack into the data systems of foreign countries, cyber espionage is the wave of the future in warfare. We recently discovered that China was guilty of a major hacking attack on the USA in recent years. Hillary's problem was that the leaked information was true, and therefore further undermined the public's already shaky opinion of her trustworthiness. Donald was a very flawed condidate. Just so happens that Hillary was even more flawed.

The people to blame for this Russian intrusion into US politics is $HILLARY RODMAN CLITON and BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA! $RC set the dangerous cyber-security tone in the gubmint by setting up an unauthorized, insecure, unauthorized home-brew server to conduct all its business as SoS. The FBI director testified under oath that while there was no smoking gun to indicate a foreign actor penetrated the server, such a compromise was a distinct possibility.

Fast forward to $RC's POTUS run... Gasp and total surprise! Shock Alert!!! The $RC's campaign manager and the DNC had serious cyber-security vulnerabilities that were exploited to the great embarrassment of $RC and DEMs. Duh...

Also $RC and BHO targeted the Russian political system and tried to influence the outcome of Russian and Ukrainian elections because Pooty Poot wasn't playing "RESET" with them. Shocker!!! So, it is possible that Pooty Poot got his revenge on $hill and maobama in similar manner...

That being said, we really don't know all the facts yet. WAPO and NYT are reporting that the CIA believes the RNC server was also hacked, but that no information was leaked... However, the FBI told the RNC that no cyber compromise of RNC servers ever occurred after the RNC requested that the FBI investigate the possibility of a compromise.

Another question is, how is it that the FBI reported that it was possible that a compromise occurred on $RC's server with no smoking gun left behind, but the CIA was able to find the smoking gun of a Russian compromise of DNC servers?

Assuming both potential cyber compromises could be attributable to the Russians, why would they send their "smart" guys to breach $RC's server (thereby leaving no residual of their activities behind), but would then send their "dumb" guys to breach the DNC servers (CIA knows this because supposedly they have a smoking gun...)? Was the breach of the DNC servers a "false flag" operation conducted by another intelligence service or maybe even our own intelligence agencies to prevent $RC from becoming president while blaming the whole thing on the Russians, DC's favorite bad guys?

So, according to Julian Assange, the source of the emails provided to WikiLeaks was not a Russian, or Russian-backed, hacker. The source was an insider leak.
