Self = COY ...Valentine = POY

So, Self gets COY with what everyone says is THE most complete team in the nation, in a conference, which wasn't bad, but wasn't the top of the food chain either and flames out before the Final 4.

Roy, OTOH, takes his team, which everyone said was "almost as good" as Kansas and amid all the crap with the "investigation" hanging over their head all year, wins the conference regular season, rolls to the tournament title and is now playing in a school record 19th Final 4 and he doesn't even get a sniff? Oh, and has his marquee player, Marcus Paige, not play nearly as well as he has the last 2 seasons, but yet they still win.

SMH.

Well, for one, the AP awards were voted on before the tournament, so there's that. While I would have said Hield, I can understand Valentine winning. The guy averaged 19 PPG, 7.5 RPG and 7.8 APG while finishing the regular season on a team that finished higher in the polls than OU, not to mention, his team won their conference in some capacity. Obviously MSU was on the bad end of one of the biggest upsets in recent tournament history, while Hield has lead his team to a Final Four, but if the voting was done prior to the tournament, I can understand it. The margin was also 3 votes, so it's not like it was a runaway either.

As for Self, I don't really get that, but he won it in 2009 too, so I'm hoping that pays off for us in some fashion in the next few days.

Valentine/Heild was a toss up to me so no shock.

Self is a joke. At no point this season was he doing a better job than Roy, Jay, or Lon or even Mike Brey (hope he doesn't take over at puke)

I wonder if the rock chalkers see this COY joke as some soothing consolation for yet another large underachieving NCAA tourney. I don't care enough to check it but by now there must be plenty of people ready to ring self up.

JOKE CHOKE JAYHOKE
