Seth Trimble Returning To UNC

Our starting SG can't shoot
Yea, assuming he's the SG1, they probably need at least a capable shooting PG now. That becomes a necessity unless this program completely changes its DNA into a defense and rebounding first team that plays slow and wins games 68-60.

Caleb Love came back had a worse season.
RJ Davis came back had a worse season.
I'm jaded....hope this time is different, hope he's not staying to run point, instead of getting a true point guard.

I'd like Trimble's primary job to be full court pressure on the opposing PG.

So I'd like to land a tall point guard who can defend the the opposing SG.

Great news-UNC has a PG for next year.
I would have loved to have seen Seth get a shot backing up EC from day one but "Mr. Everything" (aka RJ) took care of that. Question is will someone on the staff step up and try to better Seth at his best next level position or will some numb nut coach just abuse his loyalty and give him spot minutes at a 2/3 or some other unicorn offensive position yet to be created.

What is his true position? Not consistent enough to be a SG not the best ball handler to be PG and too short for F or C. Not sure I trust Hubert to figure this out either.

in NBA history there was a guy who was too short for F, not the best ball handler to be PG, and a decent but not elite jump shooter. but his coach, a genius named red auerbach found him to be the ideal sixth man, filling in at both positions with quality minutes and solid all-round play. his name was john havlicek.

I think he's a wing, regardless of his size. Unless he drastically improves his shooting, I think he's best as a straight line driver/finisher/offensive rebounder on the offensive end.

He was really good at the start of the season, and I think part of it was playing at the 3.

I don't know exactly when he got injured, but the 6 games before he missed time, he shot 3/16 from 3PT. I know there's a narrative that the concussion changed his shooting season but the reality is he was shooting very poorly leading up to his missed time.

So all we need is red Auerbach?

I think at the very least Seth backs up our PG spot and that is given we bring in a starting level PG. My gut is saying Lee is not as interested in us as we may be in him and I question if Holloman gives us much more than Seth would at the point. I do think teams that try to press us with Seth at the point we will have to give him some help.

With JPowell and Wilson and maybe Catchings and even Drake, I don't see Seth getting minutes at the 3 next season, they have to come from the 2 and/or the point or both.

Congrats Family!

I applaud this decision and I know his leadership, work ethic, athleticism, unparalleled D, and team first attitude will help restore our team to the top of the ACC!
Seth is my guy, have said that for 3 seasons now! He to me is what Cadeau was to gary, maybe a bit of a blind spot for him on my end but hey, we all have our favorites. So of course it thrilled me when this coming back announcement was made but I never had a single doubt where Seth wanted to be, kid is Tar Heel thru and thru!

I'd just like to see Seth get a fair shot to grow and develop at what his logical next level position is, or should be. It chaps my hide how a program that supposedly believes in loyalty and rewarding longevity casually dumps on players that have proven themselves to the program in favor of the next shiny new dime they find lying on the sidewalk.
