Heelicious I was just a wee lad when Carter and Jamison were doing their thing...whats the story on Shammond and the Rat?Shammond was a super shooter with a killer instinct and was a great defender. If I recall correctly he caused particular major problems for the Dookies (including Mr. and Mrs. Rat) when both Heels and Dook were very good. The team with him and Jamison and Carter on it? - did they lose to Utah in the Final Four? Maybe the best Heels team to not win a title I can recall.
KS1 - yep, that was the game. Sad. They were SO MUCH better than that Utah team, best team that year by far. Utah went on to get beat by Kentucky in the championship game I believe....Heelicious I was just a wee lad when Carter and Jamison were doing their thing...whats the story on Shammond and the Rat?
IIRC, Shammond went something like 2 of 11 in that game. That was the most disappointing UNC loss I've ever endured. I consider them the most exciting team to watch in NCAA history.was it the Utah game in the NCAA where he could not throw it in the ocean??? Love the guy though
Yeah, I remember. I believe that was the game Gut's "starting six" plan backfired. Shammond was our main deep threat on that team and never seemed to play as well off the bench. Andre Miller wore us out as well.IIRC, Shammond went something like 2 of 11 in that game. That was the most disappointing UNC loss I've ever endured. Shammond is a classy guy. Represent Shammond!
Yeah, sounds familiar. I might have it on VHSHey Gary, I sorta remember one play by Shammond vs dook (I think) where he was in the corner to the right of the hoop, faked a three, put the ball on the floor and went straight to the hole for a beautiful two-handed (IIRC) dunk. Do you, or anyone else recall that play? It drives me nuts because I cannot find video of it anywhere.
