Simeon Wilcher Is Ready To Do Whatever It Takes To Help UNC Win

Simeon is an absolute winner. But Hubert better learn how to develop players and coach them properly. Letting starters go and make the same continued mistakes without repercussions doesn’t help anyone. He had an extremely talented bench but he failed to develop them and give them proper rolls game in and game out. I understood the Iron 5 from the year before because there wasn’t any really quality depth and the freshmen Dunn and Styles really weren’t ready but that was not the case for this years squad. Nance was a problem. He was methodical, slow and passive. Washington has to get stronger and faster. Puff has to get healthy and stay healthy while improving his overall consistency. Dunn has to stop chomping on his gum and become more reliable. Losing Nickel hurts tremendously because if he slid into Leaky’s spot this year that would have made the offense more potent and dangerous. Caleb has to leave and try and develop his game else where or overseas. Bacot needs to come back along with RJ. RJ has to learn to dribble with his head up and stop pounding the ball into the ground and pass the ball forward. Hubert’s offense cannot be a 4-1 out offensive set that allows Bacot to try and set screens 25 feet from the basket as the shot clock is winding down and guys are just jacking up last second shots. Hubert has to be aggressive on defense and attack opposing teams offenses. Furthermore when teams are trying to press us we need to make them pay for it by attacking their defensive pressure. We had 2 Junior McDonald’s AA’s starting in the back court and neither one of them showed enough leadership to calm their team down and play smart. They didn’t make the players around them better. Caleb kept making the same mistakes in every single game and launching terrible shots at terrible times. But once again it all comes back to Hubert because he allowed this type of play to go one all season long. Leaky always played hard but he shouldn’t have played 30 plus minutes a game. What do you think Dean Smith would have done with Caleb’s play? This is all on Hubert. I’m not mad or upset with Caleb because Hubert let him get away with the bad play, pouting, poor defense etc.. Cadeau and Ian Jackson I hope reclassify together. I am not a fan of kids doing this but Both are of age and should be college freshmen starting this year anyway. Having a true PG in Cadeau will change this team overnight. Simeon Wilcher is a ferocious beast on both ends of the floor and he is very coachable. The young man is an absolute winner. This could be a very special team if coached and used properly

Wilcher has the perfect attitude to add to his elite skill set! He will be one of the pillars that support our team as it climbs back to its usual spot! The kid will do what it takes to win, has obvious leadership chops, and is a team-first star! Not a lot to complain about here.

Tar Heels welcome another potential great to the Family!

I am a strong no to a reclass by either Jackson or Cadeau, first it just seems to take longer for a reclass guy to adjust than a guy from his normal class. Did ya notice the public words from GG Jackson about his gamecock program, showed the immaturity, was not pretty. I don't think you get the value of a reclass kid like you may expect. you can get away with it from some big men maybe but on par a reclass does not look to me to be worth the risk.

"What do you think Dean Smith would have done with Caleb’s play?" Interesting question and my honest to goodness answer is I think Dean may have apologized to the kid for making the decisions he made that put him in such a hard situation. But Dean would not have put Caleb in that situation, he would have been taught as a freshman that those heat checks get you parked on the bench, same with the TOs, Caleb would fully know his role, his boundaries, and what was expected of him and he would have played within a well oiled system proven to be very successful in the college game. Dean would NOT have tried to run some spread offense having 2 weak shooters on the floor and a center whose range is about 5ft and expect Caleb and RJ to score thru constant double teams. Everyone here knows Dean would have us out running his fast breaks and secondary breaks, if that stalled we would go in to our motion offense seamlessly.

While I normally agree about re-class kids not being “ready” to play, Cadeau is already 18 and will be 19 in September.

Cadeau is older than Trimble I think..he would have been by far the best pg on the roster this year, and would be next year as well

Yes, as I said I’m not in favor of reclassifying but as I mentioned both Cadeau and Jackson are already 18 years old. For all intentions they really should be going into their freshmen years of college anyway. With that being said I 100% agree that if Coach Smith was here that he would not let all of these bad habits manifest into what has transpired to date. Hubert has set NCAA records and not by our advantage. Losing the largest lead in National Championship Game history and losing and being the first number one preseason ranked team not only to fall out of the top 25 so fast but they didn’t make the field. Ouch! Losing GG is on GG not Hubert. That was a fiasco all around and bad timing. I had told my son Feb. first that UNC would not make the field and if they did there was no way they were going to get out of the first week. Hubert has a very talented team that never knew who they were. No roles were carved out. We had talented guys on the bench they had no clue to what their roles were and if they did get in the game it was for 3 minutes in the first half and no one saw them again in the second. Our team looked like a pick up ball team. One on one. No passing, no cutters, no UNC ball. All of our staff has this UNC heritage but basic coaching principles were thrown out the window. I couldn’t even watch them anymore because of the way Hubert was not coaching them, letting players get away with bad decisions and bad play. Poor execution and lack luster effort. The optics of all of these guys transferring is an indictment on Hubert’s short comings. I have always supported and believed in Hubert but watching him not adjust the starting lineup and players minutes to go along with his 4-1 sets on offense was ludicrous. Bacot coming back I always thought was going to happen because I said it last spring of 2022 they were not recruiting his replacement. But basically it doesn’t matter who we get to play for us or if Cadeau, Jackson and maybe Jarin Stevenson (if he commits) reclassify or whoever comes on board. if our coaches don’t make the players better, develop them, play them and put them in the right situations to succeed it will be for nothing. Sure wish a George Lynch type of leader would have come and emerged but no one did but once again it wouldn’t matter because Hubert allowed this to go on all year long and he never adjusted accordingly. Our defense is passive, we let teams dictate to us. We don’t attack them offensively or defensively. Right now this is not UNC Basketball.

Simeon “The Storm” Wilcher is a combo guard. He is not a pure PG. He can play PG but we need a Cadeau type player.
