Since it looks like...

I'd like to believe that but if that's true, why in the hell is Woods ranked in the 50s? Dex, for as limited as he was offensively was ranked in the 30s if memory serves me. I understand that every class is different but 20 spots is significant for a supposed "more advanced scorer".
Playing out of position (PG) this summer didn't help Woods' rankings.
Dex, as a combo, was understandably ranked on his athleticism, speed, finishing and defensive abilities with the assumption his shot would develop. It never really did. Shame, too. He could have been much more than the nice player he was for us.
Seventh is also athletic but is also a volatile scorer. Still, honestly he is a fish out of water at PG.
Sure, he can get better at it but he needs to see himself as a 2/combo who can pick up some PG minutes as he learns. I fear that hasn't sunk in.

Can't keep getting number 30 and 50 ranked recruits when others are getting 5 in top 30 every year. Then what we going to lose is more than have coming in

Getting ranked recruits are less important than molding great talent. Many of these kids are playing basketball year round and the rankings are very volitle. Players with similar skill sets cross paths on the basketball circuit and can easily improve and lose position rankings due to lukewarm performances in one arena or another. Player development is crucial!! We are preseason #1 or # 2 because of mid level talent that Roy and the staff developed with our system.

I like how our recruiting is rounding out. Has anyone thought of us potentially going to a three guard lineup? We are getting taller, athletic wings that can play multiple positions, combined with small combo guards that can shoot, score and run the offense. Theo, Justin, Brandon Robinson, Seventh Woods and Felton are the tall, athletic guards that will cause severe match up problems for teams. Britt, Kenny Williams and Berry are small combo guards that can shoot the long ball, defend and play the point too.

Roy really knows how to make lemonade. Throw in stretch 4's like Markennen and Maye, combined with Bradley and one or two more solid big men - we are solidly positioned to challenge anyone.

duke and kentucky are loading up with high ranked talent that jockey with each other for the spotlights to go pro after one to two years. I like our program because we are building experienced teams with players that do multiple things. This make us far more dangerous than younger, talented teams with showboats that crack on the largest stage to improve draft status.

Which would you prefer - 3-4 year players molded for championship play, or 1-2 year players that spin the wheel in hopes for a championship?? Ask kentucky how many titles do they have with the long trends of loaded recruiting classes?? duke won it all last year because kentucky was worn down by wisconsin. Everyone knows that a duke vs kentucky match-up last year was a lopsided match up that duke would not win.

Do your thing Roy!!! Build up the teams that will bring more national championships with good character, well rounded players that want to come to Carolina. Rankings won't matter as much because we are building for the long haul. Sorry for the long post.

I forgot to mention Marcus Hicks who is more experienced, solid and a very dangerous post player, rebounder and low post scorer.

Wait, did we clone a Marcus Paige and Isaiah Hicks hybrid this summer? This would be fairly awesome :)

Rivals has him at 35 right now. I'd take him in a heartbeat!
Well hell... just talked to one of my best AAU contacts down here and he's still hearing F$U.
So, that means that thus far among my coach mafia it's UNC-2, F$U-1.
Alrighty then... guess we'll find out Monday. o_O

Gary, if he picks F$U it could cost him millions in the long run (imo)... Guess we find out Monday at three...

With Seventh visiting this weekend it should be interesting. They are obviously very different players and could come in together. Woods is (ideally) a smallish but very athletic combo guard who can contribute immediately in that role.
Robinson is sort of a tweener wing --- long and smooth but not exceptionally athletic. In fact the question all of us in my mafia have is can he get strong enough to play an effective 3, or quick enough to guard smaller 2s. The good news is that he is very active on the court. In the best case, Robinson will probably take a little time to develop.

A lot of chatter from folks that only surface when something good is about to happen . . I think this one is a done deal for us.

I love it when you guys talk like this!!..if Woods and Robinson jump..then we don't get alkins right?
Two in the hand? Easy choice. Also better for long term stability, since Alkins looks OADish. Which is not to say I wouldn't love to have Alkins. He's a monster.

It looks that way to me too, Billy, esp with the timing... still some contrarian chatter down here my buddy picked up, but I still think this one goes to the good guys.

Woods reminds me more and more each day of Dexter Strickland......
Said the exact same thing the first time I saw him and that hasn't changed in the 5 or 6 other times I have seen him. And that is a compliment. They are the exact same player with the exact same skillset. And to be clear, Dex was actually a pretty good shooter in HS, just lost loads of confidence and when folks started changing his natural stroke that was the end of it.

I know what you mean about Dex and Woods but I don't think Dex could jump quite like Woods.

To me the comparison is just not viable option. The reason being that Dexter actually regressed (obviously) after his knee injury. He also lost some of his speed and quickness to go along with his shot not getting any better. Dexter was a very good player in his own right. Woods will indeed become Woods...
