Does he get a free horse and a suit of armor?
Ringo should be the poster child for doing more with less.
He certainly fell in with the right group of guys did he not . . ? Lennon used to complain that he was slightly off the beat of a song and actually didn't think that highly of Ringo as a drummer. Timing is everything, and that worked out well for Mr. Starr . .
John also said he was the best drummer in the world and frequently used him on his solo work.
John's opinions changed as the wind blew.
Eh, Paul came at him first with the "Too many people preaching.." and the "You took your lucky break and broke it in two" so I could at least get why he made that song.
The 1970 Rolling Stone interview where they loaded him up on coke is crazy. He just laces into everyone.
I won’t say Ringo is underrated but maybe under appreciated is a better description. Like a good play-by-play announcer, he understood that less was sometimes more.
Here’s a great clip from several well-known drummers explaining what made Ringo so great.
