Loved the small line up. I know you can't start a game like this but once FSU was tired and their big bigs were in foul trouble Roy went with:
C - Brice
F - Theo
F - Justin
G - Nate/Joel B
G - Marcus/Kenny W

As much ink as Brice will get in the next few hours, here's a shout-out to 4 others:
  1. Theo: Great work on D, great work on Off Boards, great minutes at forward
  2. Nate: Terrific defensive work on Mayes and his best offensive game at the point in 2.5 years
  3. Kenny: Very good defensive minutes, his contribution won't show up in the box score
  4. Roy: Terrific coaching, changed up the defences, brave move to use the small line-up, subbed Joel B in at the right time to get a contribution on a poor night from the soph, rode Brice like a Kentucky Derby winner. And..... kept up a constant dialogue with the three seemingly drunk frat boys who'd dressed up as referees for the night.

OK, one more, Marcus for getting the team it's start early in the game, and for his return to form in the second half.

Yeah that was pretty ballsy of coach to go with that small line-up when he did and in a word, it was brilliant. Our small ball line-up is going to give opponents fits this year.

Wow, some credit for Roy!!??

Our team is just plain beastly! We are deep, tough and skilled. This is a fun year!

Oz, what i didn't like so much was going with 3 PGs against them (which we did a couple of times). Their length became an issue. With our smallish Guards I would rather see KW in that mix as a small 3. But yeah. when we slide Theo to the 4 and go small that gives us a lot of flexibility.

Truth is I didn't think we would win this one, not on the road at what may be the second best team in the ACC that is so darn long it is scary. I mean our starting center was out for this game, our 2 best big men have a habit of picking up foul trouble, Jackson has not been shooting like we know he is capable of? The stage was set for us to get hammered and truth is in terms of raw talent FSU may have more than we do. That is one immensely talented long team but they lacked the experience we have and they don't do a great job of developing their talent. There is a certain big man that is looking at both UNC and FSU as his potential schools and last night is an object lesson in why there should be no hard decision involved. There is as well a certain big man that is from the 2017 class looking at both UNC and duke, may want to turn his head toward us a little stronger as well!

Someone on a thread said yesterday that we don't start playing real games until feb, I took exception to that, stated flat that we had a big game last night. We did and it was a game for the ages in my book. Brice may not have had the best game ever by a Tar Heel but he had the best game this Tar Heel has ever seen from a guy in our uniform! While I for sure loved the 39pts, it was the rebounding that just blew me away! This was a VERY physical game, intensity level was thru the roof, those FSU fans were ready for another blow out of our Heels and our fellas were just not gonna have it happen like that. It was electric, we take an early lead, they march back, we step back up, back & forth.

To win that game, under those circumstances and not just win it but win it by 16, to hang 106 on that team in their own house was what this sport is all about IMO. What other team could go to that place, have FSU players play like they did and come out with the win, by a single point much less 16 and do that with their starting center out for the game, maybe Kansas but that is a big MAYBE! But the odds drop when you consider your starting PG and your far and away best big man off the bench struggle all game with foul trouble, nah, kansas does not survive that.

2 take aways, first, teams, ya better think twice if you think you can play our preferred fast pace game with us, you will score but you will not stop us. 2, that certain big man that is looking at both UNC and FSU, you had to see the raw talent FSU has in that front court and you had to see how that UNC front court plays against that raw talent. Team beat talent last night, a team of very developed experienced guys beat a team that just is not known for developing the talent it gets, Leonard Hamilton is not Roy Williams. Last night you got to see what happens when players are developed, are taught how to use that talent they have and you got to see what happens when they have not been taught well. If Brice played for Hamilton, he may not have got off the bench last night at very least would not be anything near the player we enjoyed go off last night. Food for thought!

Man, what a freakin game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There it is, Dave... F$U does not develop big men.
They have had so many trees over the years and how many ever make the league?
BTW: I still feel good about that 2017 Big (who is way better than the 2016)... but I wouldn't mind having them both

Agree and I feel really really good about them BOTH! Yeah, the one is better than the other but lets face it, the 2017 is as one & done as it gets, the 2016 is a project but talent thru the roof!

Yeah, I would LOVE for us to have any of those FSU big men, 2 years at UNC Boris would have been on the Wooden watch list, I really believe that, Ojo may have been as well. But that fruit is dying on the vine at FSU, nothing but poor big man coaching explains the way those bigs played last night. Brice got all those rebounds because those bigs turned their head from him, lost him, could not find him to block him out. I hate to see talent like that wasted but there it was on full display last night and Brice carved them up. Wish Hicks had not got in to foul trouble because he would have had a field day as well.

As long as I can remember with Hamilton at least, they have treated their Bigs as bangers, garbage-men and shot-blockers --- at least since Alexander Johnson. They are never really an inside-out team even though they always have size.
