Some good news

Probably so. I just remember my one experience in Beaufort was a week during August...it was around 100 degrees with 60% humidity every single day I was there. The two times it rained were like a hurricane blew through...and only made it more humid.

Coming from someone who LOVES the heat...that was brutal.

I also love the heat, but Columbia is pretty rough.

Note to self: You'll probably melt if you go to South Carolina - stay away!

The SC coast is very, very pleasant. For my money, the beaches there are nicer than NC beaches (blasphemy I know). But once you get inland, it's fuggin hot. Especially Columbia. It's like a valley of trapped heat that you can't escape.

I've always thought SC beaches are better. The sand is smaller granuals and the beach area is wider and provides both soft and hard sand. But the ocean waters on NC beaches are better because it's bluer and a more refreshing temperature in the summer time.

SC has better beaches than NC but only because SC has the best beaches in the US.

dude...i can't go there at all, ever...lived at and or visited both, and nc is hands down better.

the grand strand alone is disgusting and the color is wrong.

fayettnam does suck though...hay street was notoriously bad back in the day...it made jacksonville seem pleasant.

I don't care about the Grand Strand, but Litchfield south to Hilton Head is perfect. As far as NC beaches, they are fine, but just don't have the width that the SC beaches do. Plus, the coolest beaches in NC (OBX) are not good for swimming at all.

Plus, given that you live in Columbia, you decision making ability in assessing locations is suspect.

I lived in myrtle beach for two years. God what a shyt hole. Stand in line to get groceries, stand in line to get gas, cant turn left, harley bike week, followed by black bike week, spring breakers, puke on the sidewalks and in the bathrooms, overpriced clothing, tacky beach shops, stand in line to eat no matter how crappy the restaurant, hot 15 year old drunk girls roving in herds looking to hook up (yea thats a bad thing when you're 27) horrible surf and cops with really really bad attitudes

Yes obx is amazing! Ocracoke is a must see. But yea the surf will kick your ass! I about drowned as a kid. Luckily i was a strong swimmer and was able to swim out of a rip current. The whole time my mom is running up the beach waving me to come in to go eat

So let me get this straight. You decided to move to a well known tourist hot-spot and there was a lot of tourist crap to put up with? Thanks for the heads up. :p

All of that is accurate.
