*This will be FSU’s first home game this season against an FBS team. The Seminoles have played Ole Miss in Orlando, hosted FCS Charleston Southern and at Louisville and at South Florida.
*Dalvin Cook’s day last week versus South Florida was so big that his 267 yards rushing were more than his total in the three games prior that the Seminoles played. Entering this weekend, Cook has run for 495 yards on 78 carries (6.3 average), but versus Ole Miss, Charleston Southern and Louisville his combined totals are 228 yards on 50 attempts for an average of 4.6 yards per carry.
*FSU QB Deondre Francois completed 25 of 32 pass attempts in the Seminoles’ easy win over FCS Charleston Southern. But in FSU’s three games versus FBS teams he’s completed just 51 of 89 attempts, good for 57.3 percent, with 689 yards, 4 TDs and an interception.
*As a runner, Francois’ numbers are interesting: 9 attempts for 59 yards against Ole Miss and 10 for 75 and a score against USF, but vs. Charleston Southern he was 6-minus 3 and at Louisville he was 12-minus 34.
*As much focus as we’ve made around here about Carolina’s defense, the reality is FSU’s defensive numbers are quite similar to UNC’s. FSU is 86th overall in total defense allowing 413 yards per game while the Tar Heels are 90th allowing 424 yards per contest.
*The Seminoles are No. 108 in scoring defense, allowing 35 points per game while the Heels are tied for 84th allowing 30 points per game. Granted, FSU has played Louisville (No. 1 in scoring at 63.5), USF (No. 9 at 46), and Ole Miss (No. 31 at 40) as opposed to Carolina’s three FBS opponents Georgia (No. 93 at 25), Illinois (No. 76 at 28.3), and Pittsburgh (No. 48 at 36). FSU, by the way, is No. 16 at 43 and UNC is No. 27 at 41.3.
