A van down by the river
As you might already know I’m on vacation in Florida. The dogs and I are staying in an RV park just south of Cape Canaveral. I was sitting outside about an hour ago and a parade of people and bikes and golf carts kept going by. Lo and behold there was a rocket launch today. Who knew? (Not me, obviously.) Of course I had to check it out. Very cool!

The sound you hear in the video is a drone. The sound from the launch didn’t make its way across the water until about a minute had passed. Also saw the two boosters fall (land?) about five minutes after the launch.

Yep, and I believe they are going to be reused if there was no damage. I also read that they both made sonic booms on their way down. Did you hear those @Raising Heel?
Most definitely. There is a dog park here at the RV park (awesome) so I was watching from there with the dogs. When the sonic booms happened all the dogs started barking and running around like wtf

...and we're worried about North Korea and their 1950's technology?

If SpaceX is doing this shit, imagine what our military has the capability to do.

The main core didn't land successfully. Some of its engines failed to reignite and it crashed into the ocean near the drone ship.

So everything didn't go perfectly. But that's a hiccup on what was otherwise a great day for SpaceX.

I watched online but missed the first part and was on a computer without speakers for the rest. How did the car get deployed?

Was it in an attached capsule that split apart and ejected the car? The video feed made it look like it was attached to the outside, but that would have been ridiculous.

I love the "Don't Panic" but did they put a towel in the car?

Makes me wonder if NASA will lose a lot of top talent to SpaceX--or if it already has.
