Ahh, the "hidden" yardage game. We are still a work in progress here, although we have some pieces, and Fed does some pretty innovative things within this sector.
The Good:
1- Weiler- the kid is just SPLITTING the uprights....I mean, he is "swishing" his FGs like a Marcus Paige open 3 pointer. Incredibly improved from '14, and downright reliable. His kickoffs are non-returnable the majority of the time.
2- punt coverage- 0 return yards allowed. Much of this seems to be a result of a Fed schematic... we are punting ugly knuckleballs, seemingly on purpose, that get on the ground early, preventing returns.
The Bad:
1- Daly is incredibly SLOW getting off punts. Been waiting for the block, ala Thurs. Gotta clean that up, b/c the remaining opponents are going to try to exploit that wart.
2- the stupid swinging gate improvised 2 pt conversion. Either go for 2 legitimately w/ purpose or kick the damn ball. One of these days that cowpasture bullchit is gonna cost us a game!
The "3rd part" of the game often determines the differences between also-rans, chumps, and champs.
