Who was The Big Fundamental?

Seriously?

Tim Duncan

And what's so great about that nickname is that the guy with more nicknames than anyone in the history of sport - Shaquille O'Neal - was the one that came up with that. It was back in the day when whatever Shaq said was gold. And he was simply asked to give Duncan a nickname. He said it and ever since then, everybody referred to Duncan as such. Meanwhile, Shaq took "The Big..."everything else. He was "The Big Aristotle", The Big Cactus (later morphed into "The Shaqtus"), "The Big Shamrock" and of course, Diesel.

I love Shaq.

Baseball:

Seriously?

Yeah, Shaq had a ton of great nicknames, and that's part of the reason I remember The Big Fundamental for Duncan. Shaqtus was my personal favorite of Shaq's names, but he had a ton of them.

Great nickname for a not great player (well, at least in the pros): Johnny Football.

Tim Duncan has always been fascinating to me. The man is the best power forward to ever play basketball, yet I still consider him to be one of the most underrated and underappreciated players of all time.
Oh without question. The Spurs "dynasty" as a whole kind of falls into this category, but especially Duncan. He just goes about his business, gets his 20 and 10 every night, nothing flashy, but he's generally gonna beat you. One of my favorites to ever play the game.
