Spurrier done...

now trying to find out how much tanner had to do with this.

i thought he was retiring last year when he made the comments about how much longer he thought he had...guess he had to promise some dudes.

not shocked though...however, this city has had enough crap...this timing seems kind of weak.

Unless theres a back story here that noone is reporting he is going out a quitter whos so arrogant that he cant deal with a losing season. I've never had an ounce of respect for him and this just justifies my opinion.

My first thought was could it be a health issue ?
Even though I've never liked the dude either, I wouldn't wish that on him.
However, if it's just him bailing because he's a poor loser, then that would say a lot about his character (or lack thereof).

Yea if theres a health or fam reason then that would def be different. If hes just "done" as being reported then thats horrible for his legacy.

throw in what is happening now, here, where i live...i mean, this is the absolute worst message to send to diehards that just two days ago thought three hours of supporting your team could give them energy to move on.

i will always respect the guy for his coaching accumine and his records, but going out like this is a sucker move if everybody in his family is healthy.

Same, although I do have a small shred of respect for him as a coach. Same as K. Otherwise a self-important piece of crap.

Supposedly there was some uproar about that Brandon Wilds kid. He refused to play last weekend claiming he was hurt but Spurrier didn't believe him and it got ugly or something like that. And I think Spurrier was just like, "whatever...I'm done."

He did manage to give USC some light that they hadn't experienced before. After the head of steam they managed to get earlier in his tenure, I thought Spurrier might have it in him to do an encore at USC. I'm really surprised he would resign like this, but, I'm not completely shocked. USC can go back to being perpetually sub-par and their yearly bowl game will occur in November against Clemson. This makes our loss to them even more painful.

He did go i think 11-2 for 3 straight years which would get u a statue here (or run out of town for wanting a raise). I do acknowledge his coaching skills. I just cant respect the taunting, rubbing your face in defeat, and running up the score. Its interesting that of the hundreds of players he coached very few are paying respects on twitter and i've yet to see any of his former qb's say anything although i might not recognize their names if they did.

He couldn't have been all that happy or fulfilled while at SCar. He's a fun-and-gun, throw-the-ball-all-over-the-place coach.......and he never had one QB at SCar could do that. They were all run-first teams or scrambling QB's. Credit to him for adopting, but he couldn't have had as much fun as he did at Florida with the stable of arms he brought in and coached up.
