Start Hicks Today

Agree with Mikey . . please give this young man all the minutes he can handle. I want him getting 25 mpg minimum. He has proven to be a very good and consistent FT shooter, rebounder and gives that hustling effort full time. The more PT he gets, the better he will be . . geez, the guy saw only 13 minutes compared to KM's 22 against dOOk, IMO, that needs to be reversed.
It actually might be best for the team that Roy gives the honor of starting the game to Kennedy. Making KM the only player change throws too much of a spotlight on a single person, and could make him feel as if he were the reason of our team's failures.

If, IH fouls out a game or 2, I'll live with that . . I think he can adjust his play some to avoid foul trouble, as long as he knows he's going to be depended upon to give us larger minutes on the floor.

Like many Tar Heel fans, I'd really like to see less substitutions, and if a player gets hot and/or looks to be getting into the groove of the game, leave him be for crissakes, we kill far too many rallies with our own bullets. Reducing the # of players actually seeing floor time is something I expect to see from Roy here in the month of February . . but, alas, maybe Coach is still searching for that magical 7 or 8.

Agreed on starting Hicks. But let's just be clear, we want him starting over Meeks. With Roy's wacky lineups I could see him saying "ok sure, we'll try Isaiah starting this time, Brice - have a seat next to me, you can go in after Luke"

I think Brad Meltzer is the only one that can decode this team . . him and those other 3.

Hicks needs to play like Plumlee did against us. You have to play thru foul trouble.

However, I think the other teams HC would be alot wiser and would attack Hicks immediately to get him out the game quick fast and in a hurry. IJS.

In listening to the analysis of our team following the duke loss a bunch of good analysts made th comment that we would reach our potential with Hicks on the floor and not Meeks because Meeks clogs up the lane for Brice a lot. And when Meeks decides to play high post and free some space up for Brice it makes him ineffective because he can't dribble or hit s mid range jump shot at all. Makes a lot of sense now that we have seen Meeks for another year. Not sure he really helps us a ton but can be effective as a role player playing 10-15 minutes a game

Did you guys notice that Meeks wasn't quite as slow today. He seemed a bit more aggressive - but then again, everyone on the team was.

Guys, Isaiah has two fouls in limited minutes. Roy's probably afraid to start him, lest he pick up two fouls in the first five minutes.
You can't be afraid to start your best players. If he gets in foul trouble, you go with Meeks or James.

Maybe if Hicks didn't feel like he had to go 100 miles an hour because he only gets limited burn, he might play under control.

Him playing 100 miles an hour is not the problem. It's him playing smart defense. You can do both. I want him at 100 miles an hour no matter how many minutes he plays.

Some people can do both, but some are overly energetic and shoot their wad too soon.

The saying "Ready, Fire, Aim" exists for a reason.
