I didn't get to spend much time watching this game, but by the time I tuned in, UNC had defeated BC, and BC didn't look interested in being there. They are clearly the worst opponent we've faced in a while.

I've decided to make some changes to the way I present these stats. Instead of standard deviations and averages listed in text, I've put a modified whisker plot for the important and interesting stats for the game framed against the Heels history of play since 1996. Expand the "spoiler" at the bottom for more information. The Smith Index, BTW, is a measure of how far we were from our offensive and defensive goals. (Positive numbers mean that we scored more efficiently and prevented them from scoring efficiently.)

Of note in this game was the prolific 3-point shooting by the Heels. While we shot a fantastic 48% from behind the arc, we took a large dose of shots from behind the arc; 38% of them to be exact. This looks like a fresh team with fresh legs after a break. It didn't hurt that BC left UNC wide open, too. With 1.167 points per possession, it was the 39th best performance in the last 931 games. The Smith Index of 0.29, was the 53rd best performance in the last 931 games. You could say it was the 53rd most dominant performance, but this doesn't include rebounding, the weakest point for the Heels in this game. Defensively this was not a great game. While we held BC to 31% FG shooting, the 67th best performance by the Heels, we only forced turnovers on 10% of possessions, the 867th best performance (out of 931 games). That balanced out to be the 300th best performance in minimizing the opponent's points per possession.

Lemme know what you think of these stats. If you suspect any errors, please let me know.
