Discussion
After 4 poor performances, the Heels bounced back to give one of their best performances in recent years against NCSU. The game was essentially over 12 minutes into it, when the Heels led by 20. Because of this, the whole game stats are a bit polluted by the second half play, so remember that the play was actually better than the stats reflect.

It was an exceptionally good day for UNC shooting the ball, shooting 54% inside and arc and 56% outside the arc. It was the 47th best 3-point shooting performance since 1996. (The best with at least 10 attempts was against Wake Forest in 2014 (11 of 15). The Heels fell in love with the 3 in a big way, taking 44% of their shots from behind the arc. This prolific, deadly shooting led to a dominant 1.18 points per possession, a feat that has occured only 32 other times in the last 939 games.

Qualitatively it was a refreshing and interesting game. UNC's big weakness has been stopping dribble penetration. NCSU's primary focus on offense, therefore, was to drive UNC's guards into the paint and attack Bacot. UNC was ready, and players like Bacot and Black set the tone early with excellent weakside help and several demoralizing blocked shots. UNC answered with extraordinarily hot 3 points shooting, and within a few possessions of the game's start, UNC had a stronghold on the game. Additionally, UNC did a good job defensively keeping Seabron from being effective in the first quarter of the game. It was an excellent coaching performance and player performance.

Next up is a road game against a bad team. UNC has had troubles on the road, so Tuesday's game at Louisville will be a great step toward preparation for next Saturday's showdown with Duke.
