...and I told you weenies that Marcus' stroke was looking good. :D

I'll start with the negatives, since there were only two:
- Giveaway TOs

- FT shooting 12/19 (thankfully we didn't need it)

Checklist:
- Own the defensive glass? 49-31 Rebounding advantage and only 7 Offensive Boards allowed. Check.
- Shoot 40% from 3? There's that magic 6-15. Check. (and we did all the damage we needed from deep on the first half when the game was effectively won).
- Finish strong inside? for all the shots we got up we kept the Blown Assists at 15, and we cleaned up many of those. Check.

Brief stuff:
- ND came out in Zone --- didn't do em any good. We beat em inside and we beat em outside.

- Officiating was actually pretty decent. They called what they needed to and they actually busted Auguste for his constant traveling.

- Toughness. How bout JJ getting feisty on that jump ball? Love it.

- We didn't have a great FG% (43.5%), but who needs it when you grab 19 Offensive Rebounds?

- 21 Assists on 30 made FGs. Yep.

- As I said in the opening, Marcus is back.(4/7 3s).

- And just how much of a badd-ass is Joel Berry? Yeah... leave him off the All-ACC team. Oh, and what's up, Demetrius Jackson? --- 1/10 from the field and 3 TOs --- THAT's what's up.

- But folks, you saw it. This was a DEFENSIVE ass-kicking, name-taking and momma-telling. Terrific team defense from start to finish. We held a good-shooting team to 30% FGs and under 50 points for the game --- and beat a legit tourney team by 30+.

Deal with it.

Let's finish this thing...

Oh, a couple of points I meant to add earlier:
- while ND was determined to get back and/or disrupt our break (we only had 4 true Fast Break pts), we still managed 22 on the Secondary Break.

- As for defense and cleaning the glass --- We outscored ND 40-10 in Points-in-the-Paint. Wow. Just wow.

May be our most complete game to date. Our defense was stifling and we controlled the defensive glass, holding them to one shot all night long. If we continue to play defense like we did last night, we're as good as any team in the country. Very impressive win against a quality opponent!

Great game analysis as usual, Gary.

I like this team. They had 10 TO's yesterday. If we can keep TO's to 10 or under we are on par to match '05 and '09. If we bring home an ACCT and an NC I would sure be a happy Tar Heel and our kids would have done something few teams have, win conference tourney and an NC...

We need to win 7...

One more inside aspect --- you could sorta see it on TV and our guys confirmed it later --- is ND's propensity for talking trash and trying to intimidate teams. That got turned back on em. JB and Marcus frustrated their Guards so bad it was a thing of beauty. Jackson and Vestuvia couldn't do sh**... and apparently JB let Jackson know about it.

I noticed ND jacking their jaws. I also noticed Brey cussing like a sailor and ranting at the refs. The apple doesn't fall far from the coaching tree.
Our guys aren't trash-talkers or dirty players, and generally act like they have some sense, but....... Like I said in another thread --- give as good as you get.

Sometimes a snowball rolling down a mountain turns into an avalanche and you get swept away, happened to the Domers last night. I agree that you have to fight fire with fire sometimes, Gary. That chippiness was exemplified by the wrestling match between JJ and the ND player.

Loved seeing that feistiness in our team! Roy's had it all year long and I've been waiting for this group of easygoing guys to adopt it. IMO, JOel and Theo have really given this team a bit more edge and it's just what the proverbial doctor ordered.

We took their game, shut their mouths, and then ripped out their hearts! This is the type of transformative win that could propel this team to great heights. When someone is beating your behind AND keeps their mouth shut at the same time, it totally ramps up the frustration!

I have thought Theo and Brice have always had the Dog in them and I see it in Berry also but Justin Jackson was awesome and he kept the ball which made it even better..... I sure hope this is the team new attitude the rest of the way.
