Survivor Pool 2015: Make Your Week #12 Selections Here

1. Notes (Lots of Reading to Do:

Note to All: I will be travelling to Blacksburg to cheer the Heels on to victory over the Hokies and will not be returning until Sunday. Before I leave, I will set up a Week #13 thread for survivors (if any), in case they wish to go ahead and make their selections. That thread initially will not contain results, but I will add them when I return home.

Important Note to those who selected Duke, Georgia Tech or Virginia this week: Sorry that you have been eliminated, but all 9 of you are in a tie for 3rd place, and that tie needs to be broken. Be sure and check the Championship Week Thread to make your tie-breaker point selections. One of you will be the 3rd place winner, and 8 of you will make our final “Top Ten.”

Important Note to All: I thought this would be a good time to re-publish the tie-breaking rules. They have been expanded to recognize our Top Ten finishers. Also, I would like to go ahead and announce that since there are 9 contestants in a tie for 3rd place, we will be adding an additional tie-breaker. Of course, it will only be used if the previous tie-breakers do not break all ties. The additional tie-breaker: The closest prediction of the total number of points scored in the championship game solely by place kickers (field goals & extra points).

Here are this year’s tie-breaking rules:

--- Tiebreaking Rules (Prior to the championship game, survivors still in the running for 1st, 2nd or 3rd places (or 4th through 10th places) will predict the points that will be scored in the championship game): [Point predictions will be conveyed to me via e-mail, so they will remain secret until all predictions have been made. If there are many contestants that are tied, it might be necessary to add additional tiebreakers.]

If more than one contestant “runs the table” during the first 13 weeks of competition, tie-breaking will occur in the following order:
a) Did your 14th team win the championship game?
b) Did your 14th team lose the championship game?
c) The closest prediction of the total number of points scored in the championship game.
d) The closest prediction of the number of points scored by the winning team in the championship game.
e) The closest prediction of the total number of points scored in the championship game solely by place kickers (field goals & extra points).

If there are contestants that have not “run the table” during the first 13 weeks of competition, and there are competitors tied for 1st, 2nd or 3rd places (or 4th through 10th places), tie-breaking will occur in the following order:
a) The closest prediction of the total number of points scored in the championship game.
b) The closest prediction of the number of points scored by the winning team in the championship game.
c) The closest prediction of the total number of points scored in the championship game solely by place kickers (field goals & extra points).

Information Note: 96 contestants entered our contest and all survived into Week #2. Since then, 20 have dropped out for failing to make a selection, 2 have dropped out for making a duplicate selection, and those who dropped out for selecting a team that lost are as follows: Boston College (5), Duke (3), Georgia Tech (28), Miami (11), Syracuse (5), Virginia (2), Virginia Tech (13) and Wake Forest (5). Not a very good year for “Tech” teams. That leaves only 2 Survivors.

2. Week #11 Results:

11 survivors entered Week #11. All 11 contestants made selections.
