Survivor Pool 2016: Tie-Breakers Posted: ACC Championship Game
PLEAE READ ALL OF THIS POST. All details of the tie-breaking methodology are spelled out in their entirety. Only post to this thread if you have specific questions that are not addressed.
The ACC Championship game will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, and it will feature a matchup of Clemson vs. Virginia Tech. It will also determine the final standings for Survivor Pool 2016. There are 15 contestants who are eligible for the tie-breaker. Those eligible for the tie-breaker include (and their current status):

Do not post your tie-breaking predictions to this thread!! Instead, tie-breaking predictions will only be accepted by submitting an e-mail to me at taylor0742@peoplepc.com. This is to provide secrecy for your predictions. In the subject line of your e-mail, please enter “Survivor Tie-Breaker.” In the text of your e-mail please include the following:
A. Screen name
B. Prediction for Tie-Breaker #1 (Total points scored)
C. Prediction for Tie-Breaker #2 (Points scored by winning team)
D. Prediction for Tie-Breaker #3 (Points scored by place kickers – field goals and extra points only)
E. Prediction for Tie-Breaker #4 (Distance in yards of longest made field goal)
The deadline for tie-breaking e-mails is 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2nd. As soon as practical after the deadline, I will post all tie-breaking predictions to this thread so you will be able to see each prediction and monitor them during the championship game. Since I am still in the contest, I have already e-mailed by predictions to AJ. As contestants submit their tie-breaking e-mails, I will confirm their entry by “reply.” I will also update the contestant listing above to reflect their entry was “SUBMITTED.”
A complete list of the tie-breaking rules follows:
--- Tie-breaking Rules: Prior to the ACC Championship Game, survivors still in the running for 1st through 10th places will provide tie-breaking predictions based upon the ACC Championship Game. Tie-breaking predictions will be conveyed to me via e-mail, so they will remain secret until all predictions have been made. If there are many contestants that are tied, it might be necessary to add additional tiebreakers.
If tie-breaking is necessary, tie-breakers will applied one at a time. All ties broken by the 1st tie-breaker will be final. If the 1st tie-breaker fails to break all ties, the 2nd tie-breaker will be applied to any contestants still tied. If the 2nd tie-breaker fails to break all ties, the 3rd tie-breaker will be applied to any contestants still tied, etc. The tie-breakers are as follows:
a) The closest prediction of the total number of points scored in the championship game.
b) The closest prediction of the number of points scored by the winning team in the championship game.
c) The closest prediction of the total number of points scored by place kickers via field goals & extra points in the championship game.
d) The closest prediction to the distance (in yards) of the longest made field goal in the championship game.
It will not matter whether the predictions are over or under the actual number – just whichever prediction is the closest.
