Gonna put one on the new house. I have always heard that they are much more effective if installed initially as opposed to replacing existing tank, but WTF do I know?
I don't even know what a "tankless" water heater is.
We have one of those super efficient ones that we pay for on a monthly basis. We don't own it. We rent it. And I think we pay like $5 per month. But I could take a 3 hour long hot shower at the same time my wife is doing the same in another bathroom and neither of us would ever experience any issues with having enough hot water. It's hot water for days.

It's a water heater that does not consist of a tank.
Whoever the company is that provides the tank. I don't remember the name. But if it breaks, they simply bring me a new one and install it - free of charge.
