I don't see "drop to #17" as any real issue. I think we all know we didn't have a realistic chance to make the "final 4," so to be included among those listed is a real plus for UNC.

It's an issue as it relates to a potential spot in the Orange Bowl if Clemson makes the CFP. Spot goes to the highest ranked team and FSU gets that spot if it beats UF this weekend.

Agree. I'm surprised they're as high as 17.

Yeah, that's the biggest problem with being that low. It's interesting that FSU is slightly ahead of us even with more losses. Goes to show you how bad they view our schedule, plus the benefit of being a name brand. I wonder if we both win this week, could we jump them with a close game against Clemson. I'm not sure we can do that. Hopefully UF wins and it's not an issue.

Good thing UNC didn't have to play FSU. We know Mack is not allowed to beat them.

Fsu offense has been really good this yr... Probably another shootout, though their D is obviously a lot better than ours.

Their LSU win is looking really good right now. I think UF has to beat FSU otherwise it looks like the Holiday Bowl for us.

I think you're right, but if we can stay within a score of Clemson and Drake starts playing like he was before, then they might want to see a big name QB in the bowl game. It's a long shot, but I don't think it's completely out of the question.

You are capable of discerning that, but will it lead to put any 2 with another 2?

FSU's NO win (in effect a road game) over LSU is now a huge game. It easily is the best win any ACC team has had this season. And Miami is in FL. Orange Bowl people would love to have a 9-3 Noles team hot on a 5 game win streak.

A 10 win team that shows it can play with a top 10 team and has a Heisman candidate with an all American WR can be just as appealing. Especially considering that Drake is almost guaranteed to play instead of sitting out.

Lucky to drop to just 17. Or in the top 25 at all for that matter. I actually hope Clemson goes to the Orange Bowl so UNC doesn't have to. They might have to play somebody good and get embarrassed.

UCLA had an equally bad loss which helped UNC's ranking in addition to Ole Miss losing to Arky. I wouldn't hate an Orange Bowl appearance with Alabama (most mocks have Bama to Orange) as they have 10 players projected to go in the first 3 rounds and I'm not sure many would play in a non-playoff bowl game, especially Young.

Getting blown out by a good team in the orange bowl is significantly better for the program than winning some no name bowl against a random second tier team.

The team is average, the coaching is average. Just lucky to play in a weak league where they can get wins, some close, against not very good teams. Thank goodness for Drake Maye. If not for him alone, they probably wouldn't even be bowl eligible.

Agreed, but that has nothing to do with the premise you mentioned. Football is about perception. You want to show a recruit (or possible future coach) that they have a chance to play in a NY6 bowl at UNC, not the Cheetos Bowl brought to you by Crest at LG field.
