CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina’s defense didn’t want to be left behind and the 18th-ranked Tar Heels are enjoying the benefits of that.
“You can just see it in their eyes,” North Carolina coach Larry Fedora said of the confidence growing on the defense. “They’re making the ordinary plays they make in practice all the time. … There have been some just small incremental improvements as we’ve gone, from the very first week and each and every week.”
Now with a week of rest after an open date on the schedule, the Tar Heels will aim to be even stronger on defense in Saturday afternoon’s game against Georgia Tech.
“We definitely have a huge amount of trust in each other and we’re building that,” linebacker Cole Holcomb said.
