LOUISVILLE --- No. 2 North Carolina returns to the ACC Championship after a one-year hiatus when the Tar Heels face Boston College Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Louisville Slugger Field in Pool B action. Carolina will then take on NC State Friday at 7 p.m. with the winner of the pool advancing to Saturday's semifinals. The Coastal Division champion Tar Heels enter the week at 44-11 after winning a program-best 23 conference games in the regular season. Eleventh-seeded BC is 25-27 while seventh-seeded NCSU is 34-22.

• Carolina is making its 42nd ACC tournament appearance, and the Tar Heels are 76-68 all-time in the event.
• The Tar Heels have won the ACC Championship six times, including a 4-1 win over Virginia Tech in the 2013 title game at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. UNC also claimed the championship in 1982, 1983, 1984, 1990 and 2007.
• UNC went 2-2 in its last appearance in 2015. Carolina beat Virginia Tech in the play-in game before losses to Louisville and Florida State and a victory over Clemson in pool play.
