Are we looking to bring someone else in, in addition to Jace?

I think it would be easy for us to sign another good QB this yr for depth, for several reasons:
- Chapel Hill is an amazing place
- the education is fantastic
- The success of MW and Trubisky, Chris Leak at Florida blew up under Fed, and Austin at USM.
- Their RS frosh yr would have some stout, highly recruited guys on the line - Melton and Ross (picked us over FSU) showed up 300+, Sweet and Heck will be seniors. So they'd have good protection their RS frosh yr.
- Their RS Frosh yr, Nathan Elliot will be a senior, but i think we're seeing that he might be more of a game-manager type who is susceptible to being supplanted if some rs frosh is a total stud.

I don't think it necessarily takes a stud to supplant Elliott. He didn't really play that great against Miami, we just have exceptionally low expectations at the moment. I'd like to see us give the reigns to a young guy like Ruder in hopes that he proves himself early. 4 year starters are rare in college football, and having one at QB goes a long way. Have to start as a freshman (RS or true) to get there.

I agree about the o-line looking solid for the future. And you can say the same thing for RB's and possibly the WR's if we hang on to Jordyn Adams and some guys come back strong from injuries. That means a potentially well balanced offense which makes things easy on a QB, and boosts his stats because all of those little screens start becoming much more effective as the running game and deep passing game open them up.

Is Jace an early enrollee? I think someone said he was in another thread but I wanted to double check.

Yeah, and i'm not giving up on Chazz. It's possible his mental grasp of the O could improve drastically, he could quit dropping the ball and his arm will surely develop a little more. So who knows, maybe he develops enough and perfects some strengths to be too solid to supplant.

Yeah, Jace is an early enrollee.

If Jace is an early enrollee then he would have enough time to learn most of the offense if he proves himself to be the biggest talent. Who knows what will happen though...

Pretty rare that true frosh excel in pass oriented O... Texas is doing it this yr, and a&m.

Jace is an early enrollee. His season ended Tuesday night, he has already started getting ready for next year. Here is his season highlights for those interested. I may be his dad, but I think you will be happy with the young man you are getting, he is a great athlete with a cannon of an arm, but he is even a better man of God.

Can't wait for him to get here.

Congrats on getting your child to a fantastic university. He's going to love it here. It really is a special place.

I grew up all over the US - south, northwest, Cali, tx and the people, place, town and university at UNC are just awesome.

Very impressed, especially the man of God part.

As far as football, really look forward to seeing him on the field for UNC.

Before he committed to UNC, were there any Tar Heels fans in western Kansas?

There was, but the ball is shaped differently.....
Aint that ever the problem?

Was that because there are people in western KS who feel disconnected from KU and are big hoops fans? Or was it because of Dean Smith as a KU grad and then Roy Williams as KU coach? Or some of each?

I hope your family and friends develop interests in all UNC sports. Although lacrosse is driving me to a stroke with all the wasted talent, and baseball is breaking my heart almost as much as football.

wait til he goes to a bbq joint and expects beef ;)
I've lived in the southwest and CO, and BBQ beef is good. But I prefer pork. However, I prefer Memphis and Kansas City style sauce over Eastern NC sauce.

Remember, I am Tennessee raised with no kin (at least down to 5th or so cousins) living in eastern NC. I never heard of vinegar based BBQ untilI went to Chapel Hill.

Memphis style BBQ is the bomb.

I watched 15 seconds of the video and can see this kid already has the arm strength that we are missing on our roster right now. We need a QB that can stretch the defense. We don’t have a soul close to that on our roster right now that I’ve seen.

QB arm that can stretch the D, and RBs that force DCs to account for them. And an OC to call the game well.

We have some talent at RB that can be developed. Obviously some depth and another 4 star or 2 would be super nice at the RB position but what we have is manageable. Problem is our system isn’t made to highlight the running game and our coach and O coordinator continue to “stay the course” even though we absolutely suck. Our deficiency at QB is alarming. It really is. Until that improves, our ceiling isn’t the roof. It’s more like .500 at best.
