Teams ranked 11-16 in CFP relative to UNC are a joke!

Navy, and a quartet of 2 L teams. LSU, Mich., Stanford, and whoever. Complete BS. Pro wrestling has more credibility than this committee.

Edit: and the NDame ranking at #4 over undefeated Iowa and Okie St. is all brand-promotion. Yeah, people would rather watch WWE than the indie circuits, too. What a damn joke. Just go back to the UPI and AP polls...just as credible.

I agree. It's glaringly pathetic.

Every year it is better to lose early than late, yet this year those teams are still getting credit for losing late. Oh well.

And we just can't shake the stigma of losing to mediocre SC and playing two FCS teams.

I doubt anyone had any illusions about us playing in the 4 team playoff.

DING! DING! DING!

We have a winner!

Look, we can biotch and moan about the playoff committe, lack of respect or whatever else we want, but this is a DAMN good year and even if we lose the last two & miss the ACC CG we are STILL farther along that anyone predicted at the beginning of the season. And certainly farther along than anyone said we would be after losing to little carolina.

I would love to see who actually predicted this scenario at the beginning of the season. At best, most of us were cautiously optimistic that we could possibly only have 2-3 losses and a good bowl game by the end of the year. Very few were saying that we MIGHT compete for a shot at the title game if all the cards fell just right. Most were talking about how this schedule would set us up for a winning season specifically BECAUSE it was weaker than usual.

And now we are complaining because we aren't getting respect? Come on guys! Enjoy the ride! When is the last time ANY of us were actually excited about UNC football and where we were in November?

Littlejohn,

I agree with everything you said, but, "even if we lose the last two & miss the ACC CG we are STILL farther along that anyone predicted at the beginning of the season." I'm gonna move the goal posts slightly only to explain my answer assuming the first part of your words come true. Under your scenario of losing out and missing the ACCCG we fall out of the top 25 and are a nobody again just spinning our wheels while everyone else is justified by calling us frauds (true or not y'all know I'm right - perception v reality). It doesn't matter what we may believe, it only matters what everyone else believes ... CFP, recruits, other recruiters, other coaches.

We aren't going to the FF no matter how this season plays out, but we need to win out in the regular season something bad IMO. At the very least win one of two. That will continue this ball rolling down the hill in the right direction and all the ugly talk from everyone else will be nothing but hot air and unsubstantiated leading us to even better recruits and better looks from committees which we need in the future.

I also don't think any or many folks on here are "complaining". "Disappointment" is more apropos from a standings stand point in the CFP when the committee are ignoring schools in front of us with similar SOS and/or scheduling crummy schools to play. And some of these two loss teams who have no good wins on their resume are ranked higher than us. All the while, we are dominating other schools right now who have been ranked at some point in the season. They're legitimate disappointments, I say. ;)

If its any consolation inreally think they're splitting hairs in assigning 11-16. A win at va tech with all the attention should push our resume over 3 or 4 teams and put us around 12 which is where we deserve imo.

Don't disagree w/ any of the points made about the great (so far) season. I was focusing on the crookedness of the system when it was DESIGNED to supposedly eliminate the brand value to deciding who will be in a playoff, and the inconsistency of the parameters when applied to different teams. Ex/ Pitt is a quality win for ND, but not for us (on the road, no less)?

Just in case you're interested in the identity of these unbiased geniuses, see the link below:

Suffice it to say that the only member of that committee with any link/tie to the ACC happens to be the AD at Clemson, and I'm SURE he's a big Tar Heel supporter as well.o_O It does appear to this viewer that the B1G, PAC12, SEC, and Big XII(?) all appear to be pretty well represented, compared to the ACC.

Wow. And Tranghese, that dude absolutely despises the ACC. He verbalized as much after the ACC took In half the BE.

All this beotching is beneath us. I doubt anyone had any illusions about us playing in the 4 team playoff. We've had a mediocre program for decades. We just don't have much football cred right now. Just control what we can control.
I think the frustrating thing is that so much emphasis is placed on "brand" and program, when it's supposed to be, who are the 4 best teams out there?

Do you think the committee would have left off Oklahoma or Texas last year, with the same exact record, scores, schedule etc? Or this year, do you think if Michigan or Ohio State had the same exact schedule, record, scores as Iowa they would be on the outside looking in right now?

Hell no. I don't think we have the biggest beef at the moment - because quite frankly we have 2 FCS wins and a loss to a bad SC - but if (and it is still a BIG if) we somehow run the table, then I think it's a valid conversation, depending on how many unbeatens and one-loss teams there are.

Yeah, our beef is only legitimized by continued winning. Agreed. But we've been set up to most likely be left out even if we do win out by being slated too low relative to others w/ a lesser body of work. And a natural anti-ACC bias among the committee is in play. Tranghese is a shark bl*wjob equivalent.

Not IF some of the following happened:
Stanford beats ND
FSU beats UF
UF beats 'bama
MSU or UM beats OSU
Iowa loses
No Big 12 team is undefeated!

See...; there's hope! :)

Yeah there's still plenty of chances for us to move up. Two strong showings in the next two weeks will help out significantly while quite a lot of the teams ahead of us will be losing.

Tranghese is the BE commissioner who in 1998 offered to let the ACC have the first 4 BE football teams (BC, Cuse, Pitt, Miami) for football season as long as none of them were in ACC basketball. The man was ready to kill BE football - and toss monkey feces on VT, WVU, Rutgers, and Temple - to save BE basketball.

He is sufficiently loathsome to be a Big Ten big wheel.
