Ok, My wife just made a $1000 deposit for this thing. I guess I should be happy because it is a hell of a lot cheaper than the Model S she was eyeing.

I am not sold on the electric car thing, but will find out first hand in a about a year.

Cool.

Sounds like if you change your mind along the way, the deposit is returnable.

I like the idea of electric for a commuter/second vehicle. Most households have 2 cars so you can use the other for longer trips where the recharge time/convenience would be an issue.

And the more we can clean up the grid, all the electric vehicles become that much greener.

I will say, on the styling, the lack of a grill will take some getting used to. I think it would look better to paint the grill area black.

Yes, that "grilless" area looks like a bug suicide area that will have to be cleaned often. The glass roof is cool. This will be a 3rd vehicle for us that she will commute to work and back.

As far as environmental stuff... We will have to use natural gas or nuclear to generate enough power to use these things if they take off. Which will cause other environmental issues.

So, After 2+ years, she got the official email to build her model 3 and will have it in about 2-3 months. If we do the fully loaded performance one, it will be over $70K. Should have just gotten the S, about the same price....

Nuclear doesn’t create environmental issues unless you do it wrong.

My father-in-law got one, and after driving and riding in it, I like it a lot. Nicely finished, obviously very quiet, and silly-grin quick. Operating almost everything through the touch screen takes some getting used to, but once you do it makes sense.

This is cool to read after knowing you love it now. So many people approach it with a weird bias but love them once they’ve driven one.

@Louigi did you get the Tesla as promised? Wondering what you think of it.
Yes, it is bad ass. Fastest car on the road.

Nice. Have you seen the 2020 roadster they are coming out with? 0-60 in 1.9 seconds!
