I am coming around. It used to mean so much to me the way we stacked up against other blue bloods. But our place is solidified. I feel comfortable with that. And as I age, I've come to learn that the reason I watch sports is for entertainment - the drama. While I hate the losses, I need them to be able to experience the jubilation of winning. What's less important to me is arguing with fans of other teams about "who's better". Not only is that pretty juvenile, but it's an exercise in futility. Because "better" is subjective in large part. If it's all about winning titles, then sure, there's record of that. But for fans, following a team should be about more. It should be about the excitement and entertainment that your team brings. It should be about watching how our kids grow through the program and become better players and people. We could lose every game in every sport until the end of time, but I'll still be taking my kids to a couple games a year. We'll still walk down Franklin St, get an Orangeaide at Suttons and talk about "how we let that one slip away" or "we really showed some toughness out there today". Those are memories that I create with my kids and for that, I'm thankful. And for that, the end result is meaningless.

I don't ever root for UK or duke or a handful of other teams. But honestly, what they do is of little importance to me. Duke's kids want to win as bad as ours do. They're not bad kids and I shouldn't be looking at 18 year olds as the enemy. I dislike many duke and UK fans and I enjoy when those that take it too seriously experience heartbreak. But I try to remember that it's the kids that play that hurt the most. And like I said, they're just as deserving as our own kids.

So yeah, thanks go to Roy, the players and the University for another season of moments with my friends and family that I'll remember for a long time.

This is the perfect sentiment! I love this team and every kid on it. I think we have a perfect combination of good people, good ballers,.and awesome chemistry! Roy is following in the footsteps of a great man who happened to be a great coach and living up to the DES standard. I am a proud supporter of UNC bball and the U as a whole!

Thanks guys for giving me a great year; exceeding other's expectations; fighting hard to the end; showing such impeccable class; and enjoying the game!

I am glad we stayed together so we can see this great team one more time. Here's to next year and thanks for the memories!
