We really played well down the stretch!!!! I think we outscored them something like 14-1 at one point. Loved everything about the last three minutes.... all done of course without Marcus. Loved the pose and resiliency to win in a hostile arena

Gonna help this teams confidence immensely GO HEELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was crazy. I thought WE were gonna lose by 10 .... and WE ended up winning by 10. Amazing focus over the last 3 minutes. Awesome stuff.

Think it was a 21-3 run or something like that. This team has had problems closing out games in the past and it was something they've tried to work on. In this case they came back after playing horribly in a hostile setting and closed it out as well. There were a lot of negatives but we will only improve when Marcus returns.

They went from blowing a game late to actually coming back and playing well under pressure. That was the one thing they needed to improve on and had already kind of failed at this year. To play that well under pressure late was pretty great.

All of our good teams have been able to do that consistently in the past. When they did play poorly for 30-35 minutes and hung around you always had faith they could pull it out and a lot of times they did. Hopefully we can get that same sort of mojo going with this squad....

You might want to consider working for Vegas with the way you set the last couple of spreads in the prediction thread.

I was pissed that I lost focus so badly on the Northern Iowa game, had to make up for it somehow .. but then again, we were closing on a house purchase that day and moving, so I had a good excuse, ha!

I cracked up as Britt made that final layup cause I know so many folks had already banked that 3 points with a K State cover :)

It helped me today but screwed me against NW when that kid made a meaningless basket late. Congrats on the new home!

We gonna get Alkins or what? ;)

Great win. This was basically a road game because Kansas State campus was not that fall away and they dominated the crowd.

Rollercoaster ride of emotions with this game. Not having overed the first loss, I was not ready for another. Been in a crappy mode this week.
The last three minutes has made me believe in these guys. I was amazed we stayed in the game as long as we did. Something was happening all game. Kstate was hot for 3/4 of the game, getting the calls, draining threes, and played with heart. We seemed to be turning the ball over like crazy, fouling every other play, and missing easy shots and not hitting any threes. If I had not looked at the score the whole time, I would have thought we were down by 15-20. But we stayed right there to give ourselves the chance to win. Only one can take credit for that, Roy Williams! He stuck to the plan, team stuck to the plan, and in Dean Smith style, took the win away from the other team before they knew what hit them. And about gave me a heart attack and stroke at the same time

I humbly admit that I was a nay-sayer tonight and abandoned the guys, but they were looking like they'd given up. But... I give them props. They came back in fine form and showed they have the perseverance and composure to come back and win big, in a short time. K State was giving them all they could handle. That was a great learning experience.

Beat Maryland next week and the Heels will be back in the top 5.

Good win. They showed something tonight. I'm still concerned that at times they look like theyve never played together. But that was a Kansas State type of game for 35 minutes. And I wasn't sure if this team could win a grinder like that on a road environment without Paige. Well done.

Gonna need Berry to be big though against Maryland. Have to assume Paige will play with some rust.

Yeah Berry had a head scratcher of a game. His stats weren't bad, but he was a ball stopper dribbling with no purpose at times. Have to remember that the young man is still an underclassman six games into having the starting gig.

BTW speaking of the crowd THIS is a game/event that Vader over at Derm would NEVER get involved with.... WHY?/ Because the CROWD was just like a HOME game for K State or even fro MO is they had won. This Vader creep always deals from a stacked deck...

Bottom line, the Heels lose the last 2 games if played last year. That 14-1 run to end the half against NW on Monday night was the turning point of the season. That showed the players that they can come back from behind without Paige. Did it again last night. Now beat Maryland and we are back in the top 5.

There is a trend that seems to be developing that has me concerned: Johnson and Meeks start hot and then fade away for a large part of the game then try to re-assert themselves late. I know some of this can be atributed to the other team making adjustments but that is just a small part of the issue. Hopefully when Paige returns and as Berry continues to mature they will recognize this and make sure to keep the bigs engaged. We need 40 minutes from them if we are going to be playing in April.

Luke Maye is going to be a key player. He needs to be in the rotation and take James minutes. When was the last time James got a rebound?

We all know Paige's talent is going to be a huge boost when he returns, but I think his calming influence may be just as critical. Without him we seem to go into (sometimes long) stretches where everybody just looks panicked.

WE WON the frickin game... yeah we did not play well overall and at times looked bad BUT give K Sate credit, their D was VERY good, BUT we were absolute money in the last 5 minutes. The last few years we have been blasting the Heels for collapsing at the end. This team WON it at the end and did so in a very strong way

I think Johnson's fade was/has been due to fouls. Either the fouls he has or the ones he is scared he will get. Meeks was walking for long periods of times in the offense. I'd like to see him a bit more active off the ball and not just when he gets to his spot and gets the ball.

I think they are having a hard time adjusting to the new hand check rules. That's the majority of the fouls that Brice and Meeks are picking up. But I imagine most players are having a hard time adjusting to those rules. Meeks seems to be getting lost on D a lot. I have been watching him a lot off the ball. He blows his defensive assignment a lot and it usually leads to an open jump shot or layup. Brice needs to assert himself more in the paint and stop getting pushed outside the box which forces him into more jump shots than he needs to take.

Rather than dumping on Joel James, I would much rather praise what I saw in Luke Maye last night. I felt like he gave us something, hustle, nice block/rebound/outlet pass, worked on defense... Luke came in that first time and it looked to me like we were a bit staggered and on the ropes and all the sudden we seemed to wake up.

Brice, when he picks up his second foul in the first half of a game seems to really shrink on the defensive end and last night was not a game we got a ton from him defensively. But Luke worked on the defensive end, Hicks did as well. but for the first time I personally was able to see Luke as a valuable contributor for this season. Very very pleased to have seen that as well.

k-state played their hearts out, played the game of their lives to knock off #1 in front of their home crowd. they're a talented team but i wonder if they'll go into a tailspin now, peaking too soon to get that signature win, kinda like sec football teams do after playing alabama.
