If you've ever lived in North or South Carolina, you're more than likely familiar with the Cheerwine soft drink. Krispy Kreme, in cooperation with the Gastonia based Sundrop Bottling Company, announced that they were coming out with a Cheerwine flavored doughnut to be test marketed in NC, SC and GA. I haven't eaten a doughnut in years and likely won't be trying this one either.

I haven't had one in ages but I loved Cheerwine. I LOVE doughnuts but cannot really eat them often, my ass reminds me why when I do! LOL Sounds good to me though.

I wish I had a doughnut shop haha

Krispy Kreme has already made these before because I bought one in the Franklin Street Krispy Kreme. I think it was a Valentines' only thing.

I don't like Sun Drop too much either, but not liking Cheerwine? I can't wrap my mind around this. I feel like logic has been broken and I don't know how to deal with it.

Krispy Kreme brought out the Cheerwine donut in 2010 and has reintroduced several times over the years. Why would Sun Drop (a Dr. Pepper-Snapple owned beverage) participate in it?

My guess would be that they are using them to help with the distribution of the Cheerwine part of the doghnut. Some smaller companies use larger companies to bottle and/or distribute their product.

I should add that a Cheerwine-flavored donut sounds kind of gross, and I love Cheerwine. In fact, there's one in the drink machine downstairs that has my name on it. Be right back.

It is good , real sweet kind of cherry. The donut that is ..well the soda too.

I need to see if they sell that stuff up here. I figure they do since they sell other Dr. Pepper and Snapple products, I just couldn't tell you the last time I've seen a Sun Drop. Do they taste like Fresca, or those San Pellegrino drinks? I'm not a fan of those.
