Talk about the ultimate, ultimate trap/let-down game on our schedule. Win or lose against UGA, the team will be mentally spent heading in to the game against Illinois. They'll have to travel back up to Chapel Hill on Sunday morning (or late Saturday night?) and then prepare for another road game, which means more travel later in the week.
From Illinois' perspective, this is their first real home game (they have a tune-up against Murray State the week before) for first-year coach Lovie Smith. While Smith probably isn't going to amount to much as a college coach, he is a known commodity, a "name," and is obviously well-known in Illinois from his time with the Bears.
So Illinois will actually bring some fans to this one because of that and because Carolina will possibly be coming off a big win and will be in the Top 20. Sure, we throttled Illinois last year, but anything could happen in this one if we aren't careful. Thoughts?
