This may not be updated every single day but I'm hoping to update it whenever possible or needed. Here I'll have a running thread of newsworthy items from the previous 24-hour news cycle. This can be a quick reference if you need to get caught up on what's happened recently with UNC recruiting. It will focus on UNC recruits and how they stand with the Heels and the other schools recruiting him. This is not an exhaustive source because more in-depth info will be in other threads, in stories, and elsewhere. But this should give you the big idea from recently.
April 6, 2015

Waxhaw (N.C.) Cuthbertson receiver J.T. Cauthen visited Tennessee recently. He's one of the state's top '17 prospects.
We've got an update on Javon Jackson's visit on the front page. I think UNC may have taken over as the favorite though there's a long way to go and some schools like Louisville are just turning up the heat now.
2017 QB Hunter Johnson was to visit this weekend as well. Haven't been able to catch up with him yet.
April 2, 2015
Cornerback Gregory Ross popped up as a fast-rising prospect from Maryland recently and the Heels have offered. I expect them to be a significant player there and he's a player I really like. No ranking yet but IMO he's got high three-star talent.

March 27, 2015
We've got a write-up on four-star linebacker Koby Quansah's visit to UNC and his offer from the Heels. Outside of that interview I'll give my opinion here. I think Duke really impressed him a lot. They've recruited him longer and he was on their campus longer.
If you follow recruiting beyond UNC here's a take on five impending commitments in the Mid-Atlantic.
Clemson's red hot recruiting under Dabo Swinney continues with five-star linebacker commit Rahshaun Smith.
In-state receiver Diondre Overton is now saying that Clemson and Tennessee are his favorites. Take that FWIW. UNC will continue to recruit but more of an uphill climb than it once seemed.
March 24, 2015
This passed without mention but four-star center Connor McGovern committed to Penn State over the weekend. His two favorites were PSU and UNC. His choice is not a surprise. Seemed to be leaning that way although his opinion of UNC had steadily improved.
More important, frankly, is Christian Colon. It's UNC-PSU.for him and he's got family close to both schools.
We've got a story coming on four-star DE Nick Coe but it's worth reading what other places are getting, too. Here's a story from the Virginia Tech site.
March 23, 2015
Check the thread about junior day notes for tidbits on visitors and some guys who were there for the UNC-Duke game that we hadn't previously spoken with or reported on.

Story up on Jonathan Smith this morning. UNC is one of five favorites and running strong after his weekend visit.
Linebacker Cameron Brown is a top UNC target and here there's a recap of his trip to Notre Dame.
March 19, 2015
I'm going to have stories going up on Charlton Warren and Tay Scott and what I expect from them as recruits. What they bring to the table, etc. Vastly different experiences as long-time recruiting coordinator at a service academy and an up and coming G.A. on Hugh Freeze's dynamic staff at Ole Miss. Hope you'll enjoy that.
UNC was the latest school to offer '18 offensive lineman Will Lawrence, as he announced on Twitter yesterday. He's already got a long offer list and actually works with coaches as specialists. Going to be a monster recruit for the next several years. He told me a couple of his cousins have attended UNC, actually.
Trying to get a list of guys coming for the junior day over the weekend. Should have more on that tomorrow but we've reported on QB Avery McCall and RB Zamir White, another 2018 phenom.
Speaking of White here's an update on him after Florida State's offer.
Michigan is the fifth school to crack Robert Washington's list of finalists. It's Michigan, Alabama, UNC, TCU and Syracuse so far. One spot remains with a late April decision coming.
Notre Dame's hiring of Keith Gilmore seems to have helped their chances with four-star RB Matt Falcon, who we reported on recently because of the Heels' offer.
According to Woody Wommack, Jawon Pass is one of Auburn's top two quarterback priorities.
I was told yesterday that Duke is not recruiting Mississippi DB Nigel Knott. Their coaches are only giving him advice because he's Derek Jones' godson.
March 18, 2015

Here's the football recruiting podcast from THI.
Jaquan Yulee's new top seven: UNC, NCSU, VT, Michigan, FSU, Clemson, Alabama. No order.
Clemson made a big move with Julian Okwara when they offered the Charlotte linebacker. UNC's still in play but there's a ton of competition here.
March 17, 2015
Recently I wrote about Rivals250 corner Nigel Knott, who visited UNC. Here I write about his interest in Duke given his relationship with Derek Jones. It's an interesting dynamic, though. I don't think Duke has actually offered and the way he spoke it almost sounded mutually understood that Knott wasn't "really" interested in Duke, and their coaches were more counseling him regardless of where he ends up elsewhere. Could be wrong but that was my read.
I spoke with 2017 prospect Jaden Hunter who picked up a UNC offer. Too early to tell whether the Heels will be a player. Will have a write up soon.
2017 phenom QB Hunter Johnson will visit UNC and here he recaps his visit to Notre Dame (an in-state school).
Four-star linebacker Keith Simms plans to visit UNC among many others.
March 16, 2015
Hearing Jaquan Yulee's Alabama visit went very well and he was pretty wowed by Nick Saban. He's the kind of linebacker, according to their coaches, that would bulk up and fit well in their 3-4 defense. However, remember--- they can't take everyone. They've offered a lot of guys and they tend to tighten up when it comes to real 'takes'.
Don't rule UNC out with top flight defensive prospect JaQuan Bailey. Though UNC is not at the very top of his list, according to reports the Heels are top five and not to be discounted.
Can confirm that UNC did recently offer Duke commit Antone Williams. The defensive back told me that he would like to visit, but he's very solid with Duke. Just wants to make sure he's making the right choice. At the same time he doesn't want to rock the boat with Duke.
March 15, 2015
Continues to appear as though Landon Dickerson is leaning out of state.
According to this story in-state DE Jimmie Taylor might be leaning out of state, too. That'd be tough for many of you to stomach as he seems to be a fan favorite on THI.
I posted an update on four-star DB Nigel Knott who visited UNC for the second time recently. He's eyeing a possible summer visit and the Heels seem like they're still a definite contender for him.
Jaquan Yulee visited Alabama this weekend.
March 13, 2015
Tyrone Hopper is a native of North Carolina now living in Roswell, Ga. He's one of the South's top OLB's and picked up an offer recently. He's also visited in the past week.
Here's our story on four-star defensive tackle Kyree Campbell.
Of course I write a story on four-star Alabama LB Tre Threat noting he doesn't have an offer from the Tide ... right before Alabama offers.
UNC no longer seems to be a top options for Florida athlete Trey Sneed, who has a new top five. Although that could be mutual or from UNC's side.
Three-star Arizona QB Kare' Lyles has been in touch with the Heels recently according to this update.
March 12, 2015
We've got our own update coming on four-star defensive tackle Kyree Campbell but here's one from Adam Friedman after his trip to UNC's junior day.
I did a story for the Duke site on Rivals250 OL Will Fries' trip to Durham. Read that here. While he was there he also visited UNC. The Heels have not offered yet but there's a mention.
UNC was the first major conference school to offer Texas defensive lineman Andrew Fitzgerald. Now Vanderbilt has offered.
Most eyes are on Chazz Surratt and Jawon Pass at QB. For good reason. It's worth noting four-star QB Logan Byrd decommitted from VT recently.
March 10, 2015

In the story above McGovern reiterates that it's between the Heels and Nittany Lions with a decision coming in a month.
Top defensive performers from RCS: Miami.
We reported on four-star receiver Austin Mack's recent trip to UNC. Here's a recap of his latest trip, which was to Vandy.
March 9, 2015
We are going to have an enormous amount of info coming out of the junior day this week. Tons of interviews with the top targets, so stay tuned. Today we've already got the story on Jaquan Yulee up, which was posted last night. So was the broader, overview piece.
Check all the other posts below the pins for a lot of updates on those guys.
The Rivals Camp in Miami was over the weekend and that could be of note on several fronts.

Not much directly of note for UNC here but this recaps Josh Ball's latest visits and the Heels have been involved with him for a long time.
March 6, 2015
If you're wondering about visitors this weekend we've got the comprehensive list pinned at the top of the board.
I spoke with recent visiting offensive linemen Liam Smith (N.J.) and Will Fries (Va.). UNC hasn't offered either. Duke has offered both. They also visited Duke while they were down in the Triangle. UNC feels pretty good about some of the other offers they've put out on the line so they appear to be taking their time a bit. Connor McGovern also visited recently and the four-star interior lineman is torn between UNC and Penn State.
We've reported on offensive lineman Tyler Pritchett before and here he is talking recruiting with the Missouri site on Rivals.com. He's backtracking from talk of leaders.
Reggie Floyd -- sort of a UNC target -- committed to Virginia Tech. Not linked much to the Heels of late.
We reported recently that UNC had offered athlete/QB Tristen Wallace of Texas. He's decommitted from Texas Tech. Lots of new offers and interest coming in. Second year in a row the Red Raiders have lost a talented dual-threat QB. Last year it was Jarrett Stidham, the nation's best.
In-state DB Mark Gilbert: Michigan offer is special.
March 4, 2015
Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines offensive lineman Solomon Kindley, who we've reported on before, lists UNC as one of the schools recruiting him the hardest.
Mark Gilbert of Terry Sanford is reporting an offer from Michigan. UNC has not offered. Pretty interesting, similar to the reports on Simeon Gatling's offer from LSU.
Lots coming in the next 24. Will have a really interesting piece that's an in-depth look at regional recruiting strategy/forecast in a hot spot for the Heels. I'll also be taking a closer look at UNC's newest assistant and what he might bring to the table, in addition to working on that visitor list for the weekend.
March 3, 2015
Couple of stories up on the front page on the new offers out to Patrick Johnson and Aaron Hansford, both from the 'DMV' area respectively. UNC's definitely turning it up there.
Sounds like Penn State has really surged with four-star OT Josh Ball after his visit there over the weekend.
March 2, 2015
We've reported on four-star defensive tackle Ellison Jordan before and some of you had noted he goes back and forth with Aaron Crawford on Twitter -- they did play together when they were young. Anyways, his interest in UNC is real. Here's the report on his Penn State visit.
Duke has really resonated with offensive lineman Jay Jay McCargo so far but he says UNC is standing out, too.
March 1, 2015
Penn State's big junior day is in the books. Defensive tackle Christian Colon added an offer and that's a big one. I've seen predictions elsewhere that have him going to UNC. He may well, but it's yet to be determined. Here are some of his quotes on James Franklin's program.
Josh Ball's trip to Happy Valley went very well and I'd have to say Penn State is a contender to the Heels and others for him, too. The four-star OT reportedly really enjoyed himself.
Analyst Blair Angulo ranked '16 receiver Kevin Stepherson among the top targets at the Pylon 7-on-7 yesterday. He's a big UNC target. Quarterback Hunter Johnson ('17) was another top performer at the event. Interesting to see two UNC targets at a big event for West recruits.
And here's the 'Recruiting Notebook' angle from the Pylon event. Not much related to UNC on that, but just if you're interested.
From VirginiaPreps.com, here's the latest on defensive tackle Sulaiman Kamara.
UNC OL target Luke Elder visited Auburn but they have not offered. He also recently visited Alabama.
February 28, 2015
The guys that run the USC site here on Rivals asked me to reach out to four-star running back Robert Washington in the aftermath of his offer from the Trojans. You can read what he said about Steve Sarkisian's program here.
Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines is a school the Heels obviously have ties to with a couple of players on the roster coming from there. Unfortunately, JaQuan Bailey says Miami and Florida, two more local schools, are standing out.
Amir Rasul, a Miami running back commit that we reported on, has absolutely exploded. After UNC offered he's added Florida State, Florida and USC. Honestly, I think UNC might have some staying power there, although he totally gushed after UNC offered. I would not be surprised if the out of state running back offers are looked at as noise in hindsight, and the Heels stay close to home. I'm also of the opinion, as I've said, that Antonio Williams should not be written off.
Finally, that Penn State junior day is today. Just cross your fingers that guys like Kyree Campbell, Josh Ball and the major UNC targets come out uncommtted and, preferably, in a holding pattern.
February 27, 2015
UPDATE: Rivals250 offensive lineman Jauan Williams will attend UNC's junior day and basketball game against Duke next weekend.
Penn State's hosting a junior day this weekend. That's news because the Nittany Lions are hosting a multitude of players with UNC offers. That list includes OL Michael Menet, OL Josh Ball, DT Kyree Campbell (UNC leads), DT Ellison Jordan, TE Naseir Upshur, RB Robert Washington, DT Christian Colon and LB Keith Simms. So yeah, it's a pretty big event to keep an eye on.
We told you about Cameron Brown's plans to visit UNC, as well as his tentatively scheduled Notre Dame trip. Here's more from the Irish vantage point.
UNC is among the schools showing interest in in-stater Madison Cone, although the Heels have not offered.
Here's THI's story on receiver Kevin Stepherson from yesterday, just in case you missed it. The Jacksonville, Fla., prospect is good friends with none other than William Sweet.
February 26, 2015
We've got a lot of recruiting content up at THI today. From our UNC's chances with Miami commit Amir Rasul, just check the front page.
Big-time DB Korey Banks tells AggieYell.com that UNC is one of the schools he'll visit this summer.
TheWolfpacker.com reports that They also reported on four-star DE Nick Coe, who is widely believed to be a UNC lean. Academics need to continue to improve for him but he's a big-time talent.
In-state defensive prospect Zack Gilbert says he hopes to visit UNC during the spring.
