In college football, the only way for conferences to make up for lacking large numbers of teams with huge stadiums that are usually filled is with bright, innovative, hungry coaches. Get that with a guy who also has charisma, and even a Syracuse or Wake can delight the media and recruits while helping ACC football take the next step up in quality.

UVA needed a new HC before Spring 2015. Beamer will retire soon, or else drag down the program he built. Golden should be gone this year if he can't do better than 7-5. Except for guys at FSU and Clemson, ACC coaches who win big can be poached fairly easily by teams with huge stadiums and never ending football emphasis and donors ready to buy the best at the highest price.

Below is my list of coaches the ACC ADs need to be exploring right now. It does not include Bama DC Kirby Smart, because I think Smart has a sense of entitlement: he is content as Bama DC but will take a job as HC at a school with a huge stadium and other perks. He may stay as Bama DC until gets the HC job at UGA or Bama.

Chad Morris of SMU
Justin Fuente of Memphis
Tom Herman of Houston
Matt Campbell of Toledo
Matt Ruhle of Temple

3 to watch: Rod Carey of Northern Illinois, Dino Babers of Bowling Green, and Phil Montgomery of Tulsa.

The only one that I have even heard of , is Morris. Your knowledge of coaches nationally dwarfs my own.

does al golden have nude pics of somebody?
Seriously. Even with all the NCAA sanctions, there's no reason Miami shouldn't be dominating.

It's been so long since they've been good that they're sorta, kinda, in danger of permanently losing the cache they've built up as a national power. Like....18 year-old-recruits were 4 when they won their last natty. Miami (and the ACC) better be careful. They could end up going completely dormant, nationally/competitively like Nebraska

here's my problem with them, @TarHeelNation11

they have talent, they just don't win games...are they not the 3rd most talented team in the league?..that team that beat the hell out of carolina down there when they wore those all green uni's iirc, they were good...i think paige-moss got a huge penalty on an extra point that completely deflated the heels.

This guy is a STAR in the making. Could definitely see him at a certain South Florida school when its head coaching spot opens up here soon.....
That;s what I think. Fuente may be the next coach to seem to emerge from thin air, by year 2 or 3 at a Power 5 school. What he has done cleaning up the train wreck that Larry Porter left at Memphis is all but unbelievable.

He would go to Miami and energize the fan base and excite recruits better than they've seen since Butch. And he has proven he can win much better than the previous coach.

Yean , just not including Hilary.
It must be a personality thing because Hillary is not as chubby as Monica Lewinsky.

As either Blaine or Antoine said in the Men On segment about TV of Roseanne, 'she's the kind of woman made me turn in the first place.'

My sincerest hope is that every ACC school but UNC raid ConfUSA for their next coach. Would even out the playing field for Fed. 62-55 games the norm. How awesome...

UM's next head coach might be Mario Crystalbol ... he is at BAMA right now but has strong ties to UM ... he played there and coached there ... he is also a really good recruiter.

If all of ACC football sucks, the next ACC TV deal will suck so much that the league's most valuable pieces will look to get out.

Another Canes HC who has yet to prove he is a winner as HC - not what Miami needs.

Woad: Just to keep you up to date in the plethora of CFB that you apparently have. Flash: Donna Shalala retired at the end of the last
Academic Semester. Not too throw any cold water on your nude pics theory. I believe that UNC and Miami will play a FB game this year, and when the game is over, it might be a better time to discuss the merits or shortcomings of Miami and its present HFBC. Good luck the rest of the yea [except for that one game], hope for no injuries to any of your or our players, and the very best of luck in BB against Kentucky, the team the whole ACC should hate. Good luck with your BB recruiting targets

What has Donna's retirement got to do with nude pictures?

I expect we'll be having fun with her, and her BFF Hillary and ole Slick Willie, for a long time.

That game made me think I was watching UNC's defense circa 2014. Egad.
The one problem with Memphis this year is the D. The last DC, Dave Odom, went back to his alma mater Missouri. The new Tigers DC Galen Scott is clearly not ready for that job.

Fuente is the real deal. And at a P5 school with any money, he will have a DC like Odom.

Dabo and Fisher were both coordinators who became successful ... other coaches with HC experience have not done so hot in different places. I dont know if UM will take MC but he played for UM ... he is from south FL .... and he is doing pretty good for himself at Bama. Im sure they will have plenty of options though.
