**Please note: Here is how we are going to do it. ACC only and individual choice on when you go two-for-one. We will NOT have a pre-selected "double week" like the premium board is doing. You are the one who chooses which week you want to do a two-for-one week.

Also, the buy-in is $10.

Tiebreaker, if necessary, will be predicting the score of the ACC Championship Game.

Deadline to sign up has been moved to Monday, August 29th at 3:00 p.m. ACC teams start playing in six days on Thursday, September 1st, so I want to post a new thread for people's picks no later than Monday to give people time to plan their picks.

Here's the ACC helmet schedule to help you get started on making your picks.

Is the plan just for the regular season, meaning up to the ACC title, or would that game be included as well?

Also, how much would the buy-in be?

Good question, no, the ACC title is NOT included. Let me amend my first post to reflect a rule change.

I propose doing it the way I've amended at the top of the OP.......however, we can vote on this too. The premium board drew lots and assigned a specific week you have to pick two schools. I don't really like that, but we can do it that way if y'all want, instead of my proposed way of just letting us each choose what week we want to double up.

To recap, if you want in, do these four things:

1. Post here to tell me you're doing the competition.
2. In said post, recommend what you think the buy-in should be.
3. In said post, vote on the SEC portion of the competition.
4. In said post, vote on if you want us to randomly assign a week for two-for-one or if you want us to be able to make our own decision on when to do two-for-one.

Example:

- TarHeelNation11 here, man the OP is so cool, I'm definitely in for this stellar competition!
- I recommend the buy-in should be $10
- I vote the ACC and SEC survival pick 'ems should both count toward determining the winner, based on aggregate scoring.
- I vote we are allowed to individually decide when we want to do a two-for-one.
-I'm interested
-I'm down with a $10 buy-in, but just for the sake of clarity, is the buy-in paid at the start, at the end, or once you are out? If it's paid at the start, who is the holder of the money?
-I am cool with the SEC aggregate scoring system
-Individually decide the two for one. Again, for clarity, we wouldn't have to pick the same week for each conference, would we? Like if I said week 8 for ACC and week 9 for SEC is that cool? Or I would have to have week 7 for both?

For our OOTB contests, we've used the honor system. We pay at the end. The winner provides his desired method of payment and everyone pays him.

You do not have to do it on the same week. You can do two-for-one ACC on week 3 and two-for-one SEC on week 5. I will keep track of who's done a two-for-one and who needs to do one still and all that.

Ok that's what I figured there. I'm good with both of those things.

I'm in (but you probably already figured that)
I'd do whatever for a buy in - I figure $10 or $20 will get the majority of the votes so I'm cool with either
I like the aggregate ACC/SEC scoring, but wouldn't be opposed to the SEC being the tiebreaker if that's the majority opinion.
I guess do "poaster's choice" for the double week. Not to give away all my strategy here, but wouldnt it almost certainly be best to wait as long as possible to make your double pick (so you have less of a chance of getting bounced early?) granted that could pork you with having to pick two crap teams against good teams late.

Or you could go two great teams vs cupcakes early on, pick a week where you shouldn't get boned by the double.

Yeah IMO going week 1 or week 12 (the SEC vs FCS Extravaganza Before Their ACC Rivals) is the safest bet for sure. Even despite that gimme week, it still gets hard as all get out about half way through the season. It will be especially tough with the SEC because they have who-the-fugg-do-I-pick matchups like LSU - A&M, LSU - Auburn.....basically all LSU games lol.

Yeah no I'm not really expecting many gimmes in there, really on either side. Like I expect Clemson to be favored in most/all of their games, so I might pick them a week where there are a lot of toss up games. The Coastal is gonna be impossible to pick some of those winners.

Well the good news is we're all guaranteed a Top 3 finish as of now.

I'll give it a shot.

I'd just as soon do just the ACC, as I don't know as much about the matchups in the SEC.
Okay so that's 3 votes for ACC + SEC (although, Hark's vote was super wish-washy) and 1 vote for just ACC.

I respect what you're saying JuleZ. My rationale was that most of us probably watch just as much SEC as we do ACC, but I guess not all of us are like that.

I'm cool with just doing ACC, or SEC as a tiebreak. I was mainly thinking aggregate because I could blow one and stay alive in the other, but I'm good with whatever majority dictates.

I'm in, but way too confusing on the rules. Dumb it down. Let's just do ACC

Also, I vote $20

I need some details on how this works first.

If it were just ACC, then here is how it works-

Week 1- you pick a team to win. If that team wins, you go to week 2. It not, you are out.

Weeks 2-end- repeat week 1, but the only caveat is that you can't pick a team which you have previously picked. In other words, you can only use Clempsun or FSU or UNC one time.

Do I have it right?

Hmmm, you can only pick one team, one time during the whole process.

Okay, I'm in!

I'm in for $10 if we do only the ACC and the optional week on picking 2 . .

Okay, I'm in!

So week 1, if you take Clemson, you can't take Clemson again. If Clemson loses week 1, you are out. For they win, survive and go to week 2.

Week 2- take any ACC team but Clemson. If you take UNC week 2, then can't take UNC or Clemson again. If UNC loses week 2, you are out. If UNC wins, advance to week 3.

Right @TarHeelNation11 ?

Yes you have it correct. You have to use every ACC team once and only once. Furthermore, the team you pick must win for you to advance to the next week. I.E. if it's an OOC game like FSU - Florida, you have to pick FSU to win. You can't pick Florida.

Also, see my original post. I have edited.

I'm in.... Are you going to post games each week or do we just post picks on here?? Also are we doing Acc or both Acc and Sec??

Welcome aboard. We are just doing ACC. And I will post all games each week, but it's something you can just look up on your own.

It's going to be a $10 buy-in, winner take all. I would like to get a few more folks in here doing this to make it more interesting. The way this competition works, all of us could crash out Week 1 or we could all last til like Week 8 or so. You never know!!

One more last explanation for those who are still a bit confused on how it works (it can be a bit confusing until it 'clicks' in your head.)

It is an ACC survival challenge. There are 14 teams in the ACC (Notre Dame does not count). There are 13 weeks in the regular season.
  • Each week, you select ONE ACC school that you predict will WIN their game that week.
  • If the team you pick wins, you advance to the next week. That team is eliminated from your choice of schools. In week 2, you can pick any of the other 13 teams you expect to win that week.
  • You continue on in this fashion, carefully picking which team you expect to win on a certain week.
  • You must pick the ACC school to WIN. There are obviously non-conference games between ACC and a non-ACC team. You have to pick the ACC school to win in those matchups.
  • Because there are 14 teams but only 13 weeks, during one week of the season of YOUR CHOOSING, you must pick TWO schools you pick to win. So if you wanted to do it on Week 1 for example, you'd pick NC State (to beat William & Mary) and UNC (to pick UGA). You only pick two teams in one week. Once you've done it once, you go back to picking one school per week.
  • Keep in mind teams have a BYE on their schedule. These are sporadic and not uniform. Keep this in mind so you don't get stuck one week where you can't make a pick because of byes.
  • All picks MUST be made before kickoff time of the game you're picking. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • I will keep track of the competition. I will post the slate for each week on Monday and I will provide you who everyone has picked and who they still have left to pick.
  • All picks will be made publicly. No emailed or 'private' picks. No exceptions. Strategize accordingly.
  • $10 buy-in. Good luck!
One word of advice I'll give.....chart out your picks before the season starts!!! If you just look at it week by week, you could very well find yourself in a situation in week 6 where a combination of byes and tough matchups force you to pick a terrible matchup you don't want to pick. Here's the ACC helmet schedule which has always helped me visualize the season and plan out my picks.
