Leishman will be my dark horse selection.

Final score : -8

Dark Horse: Matsuyama

I like that pick too. I don't think he'll win. But I can definitely see him leading after 2 rounds and finishing top 5. And if you were a betting man (which I know you are), he's a good value pick (50:1). There always seems to be an Asian player that shows well in the majors. I guess because being accurate is vital in the majors and those guys are usually some of the best ball-strikers on tour.

Thursday morning update for notables:

Reed finishes at -5 with a 1 stroke lead (over Stricker, Horschel and Justin Thomas).
McIlroy and Fowler both turn in rounds of 2 under.
Spieth, Willett and Oosthuizen finish at even par.
Bubba at +1.
Jason Day finishes +2.
Shane Lowry at +7.

Phil is -3 after 7.
Zach Johnson at -3 after 4.
DJ +1 after 5.
John Daly is at +3 after 11.

-8 after 17 . . one birdie away from a possible record 62.

I'm shocked you guys let the entire 3rd round play without comment. Stenson and Michelson were both steady when the rest of the field struggled a bit. Nothing against Lefty but I'm pulling for Stenson to win. The guy is 40 and there may not be many more opportunities for him to win a Major. He's got the underdog thing working right now.

And how bout the Postage Stamp only a 100 yards from tee and just flat out giving the players a fit.

I think Phil is in really good shape for tomorrow. He didn't play that well today but still shot one under and stayed within a shot. I've never been a big fan of him, but, man, he has really figured out how to play links golf in the last few years. I don't have anything against Stenson but I'll always pull for the American in this situation.

Remember when Jack won the Masters at 46? It seemed like we all thought he was SO old to be winning a major at nearly 50. Phil is 46 and in good position to win The Open, and his age doesn't seem like a big deal at all.

Today's 46 is the new 36. Plus the first thing you notice about Phil is his tremendous weight loss.

I'd love to see some of these guys still be competitive in their 50's, rather than lose track of them when the join the seniors tour.
Agreed, and I think it will/could happen. I'm guessing back in the day a large portion of the field smoked cigarettes, whereas today probably only a couple do, so 50 is not looking so old any more.

Phil throws a friggin dart on 1 after a couple of weak bitch slaps from Stenson.

All even

Unbelievable golf from Stenson! Hats off to him!

Yep, I gotta give the guy some serious credit for this Tourney. 68 - 65 - 68 and then he goes out and matches Phil's opening round of 63 in today's final.

The golf today was off the charts it was THAT good. Phil shoots 65 and LOSES by three. Stenson is a word class player and a very good guy.. just an an incredible performance.

He is the CGOTY and it is VERY well deserved. I have picked him many times to win majors but as he said today it was his time..he made 10 birdies and ties J Miller and record of 63 for a major championship.

I know Phil is disappointed but as usual he was classy and gracious in defeat. his game at 46 is as good as it has ever been. He will be a STRONG member of the Ryder Cup team in Sept, but Stenson will be as well for the Euros

FANTASTIC stuff today from Scotland!!!!!

I wonder if Stenson's nose has stopped bleeding yet because he played soooo far over his head.
